Advice on Insurnace for a sofa
Long story short
Purchased a sofa and 5 year cover which were told covers everything (including accidental damage)
Sofa lasted about 2 years, developed a crack then a hole, sofa replaced.
Smae thing has happend after a year on the new one, The SHop (sofa Deisgn Team Valley)
Refuse to replace and want to charge me for repair. Apart from going down and sorting this out man 2 man (which I know will only end uip with me trouble) what can I doo ??? Help please as my blood is boiling.
This bloke has been ignoring my calls letters etc.. for a while now and has just found the ***** to tell me he's not going to do anything.

Local strading standards office, solicitors letter, CAB??
Have you got the original insurance document and relevant paperwork such as what to do in the event of a claim, any small print explaining only one claim can be made??
How old is the second sofa? If that and the last one still dont come to the 5 years then you shouldnt have a problem unless there is something in the paperwork stating only one claim can be made.

Note to self: Never buy a sofa from Sofa Deisgn... Knackered after two years
Also who the hell insures a sofa I would never buy any additional insurance on anything purchased on the High Street. My building and contents should cover all eventualities, e.g. if I split something on said sofa. How much did you pay for this insurance? How much was the sofa?
This is why for certain things I don't mind paying significantly more money than the average for them as the quality will always shine through in the end

What sprt of hole is it
Arm collapsed?
has it been ripped ?
Is it a manufacturing fault ?
If it is a small claims court would probably support you unless it has been damaged /heavily abused as generally the Law recons 5 years for the life of a sofa
warrenty prob was a waste of time as they will say its a manufacturing fault while the retailer will say its a warrenty issue to push you from pillar to post
if all else fails get a quote of a uholsterer to fix it eg £100 is a decent price put it on a fltbed trailer and park up outside the shop over the Bank holliday weekend and they would soon cough up the repair costs ""

I didn buy yhe sofa its GF's and i think she got ripped off on this insurnace. Warranty is a waste of time. Gonna probs go down the smalls claim court route. Told the bloke I was going down to see then the Coppers rang me. 30 min chat with the copper and a said I was going to go down on Sat when the shop was busy. He basicly told me if I make a scene I'm knicked. Still going down but will have to keep the temper in.

I have some new advice, I think you should go down there with the sofa, throw it through their shop front window, then kick off. Should get a refund no problem
