It makes my blood boil ....... but, it is not illegal, stealing or corrupt.
I would do the same, if I could ... as we all would - rent out the second home which is being paid for by the public, nice perk!
The whole house of cards is about to fall .....

Hoon and Darling are also at it. I mean, the Chancellor, and previous Chancellor, in charge of the countries finances, are fiddling (to you and me - not to them as *they* make the rules!) and they expect us to think highly of them ...?????!!
Easy to sort. An MP's *main* residence is *expected* to be in his/her own constituency. If not, tough, that's their problem to sort out. At the outset I'd be surprised if people voted for anyone who did not live in their own constituency anyway. Travel to Westminster? Cheapest by rail, supported by receipts, or car at Xp per mile - but taxed as in the real world. Block of flats supplied by HM Gov. inside the M25 somewhere, each MP to get one, kitted out with kitchen, bed, office etc. There must be many blocks of flats that could be renovated on the cheap for this.
Other expenses - as the rest of us can claim. And ALL supported by receipts. No receipt, no money. Simple.

What kind of message does this sent out to people who go into tax avoidance shemes for example? - "you are not corrupt"?
I wonder what the moral weather vane of New Labour (Ms Harmon ) has to say about it? Not much so far - I wonder why
No doubt they will sort the problem out by voting themselves a F*cking massive pay increase.
There is only one word to describe this situation and that is SLEAZE!

I suppose he cannot have much privacy at no10 so I guess I can understand why he'd want another home, but it's unfair that we pay for that. I don't get much privacy at my place of work, I might try filling out a new expenses form

Now try to justify that!

There used to be such a thing as morality and a code of decency. I think that counts just as much as following artificial rules.
You are right of course-the vast majority of them are at it, just shows what an honest bunch we have in control these days!

They are not breaking the very lax rules, seems like they were intended to be easy it was instead of increasing pay. But they are all breaking the moral intention and screwing the electorate.

There is more to legality than just the rules, which were all effectively arranged and voted for by them anyway.

I think Leslie is looking back to an age when nothing was transparent, of course - it still went on in that time ...... just that we, the public, were never informed of it and were maybe more trusting of higher authority in those by gone days.

the death throes of the last Tory government where all based on the sleaze aspect of their behaviour, this lot seems to be going down the same route.
When I was young my grandad said that the only man who ever went to Parliment with a true intent was Guy Fawkes, I was to young to understand then what he meant. now I do.

I'd love to know why it is all over the papers, we all should be paying over 1k more in tax a year, to get us out of this hole. When, this lot are lining their pockets. Anyone care to explain, because I have no idea how that works

New Labour were originally elected in a campaign that focussed on the sleaze of the Tories.
Furthermore, we have people like Harmon going on about "the court of public opinion" in relation to the legal payouts to the likes of Fred the shred. What a joke that is.
There is also about to be a big push on tax reduction/avoidance schemes in order to help dig us out of our current situation.
I know Gordon and his chums will need to try to buy an election victory, but the stench of hypocricy here is nauseating.
Tell you what though, I'd give my left nut for the government advertising contract over the next year.
