A Wee Scottish Tale.
A man is cupping his hand to scoop water from a Highland burn.
A Gamekeeper shouts, 'Dinnae drink thon waater! It's foo ae coo's
keech an' pish!'
The man replies, 'My Good fellow, I'm English. Could you repeat that
in English for me.'
The keeper replies, 'I said, use two hands - you spill less that way!!!
Bet that was Tam or Sipie

I never got to understand the root of the phase sassanach, please let me know where it comes from,

Its celtic for southerner. I know as my other half is from Glasgow and the whole family call me it the whole time.

Was also used by Highlanders as a word for Lowlanders, which included at the time anyone from the Central belt of Scotland downwards.
As above, is mostly applied to the English nowadays.

A guy I used to work with called Londoners Blundernors due to the fact they are all thick as pigs ****
I thought it was quite inventive as he was a Geordie!

Sassenach is Gaelic for Saxon (as in Anglo-Saxon). The Welsh use Saesen to mean the same thing although these days the term is used indiscriminately for anyone English.
