Recommend me a USB turntable.........
.............to record my vinyl onto the computer, then onto CD and some onto MP3 CD.
It needs to be decent quality and to have/use software compatible with Vista.
TIA

I've got my Technics 1210 and CDJ's/mixer etc etc upstairs hooked upto my pc down here via a long wire which you may have noticed travels the distance of my house.
Simple program called audacity and press record - HEY PRESTO. Can alter the bass mids and highs on the mixer as well as the audio level recorded. All I need is the vinyls and I can do it one day for you asap. Even got the blank CDR's if you want them asap. In fact sod, I'll call you instead

A 1210 cob, you're not going to be one of those types that buy two only to end up selling when they can't scratch for toffee?

I bought my 1210 mk3's about 6 years ago when upgrading from Numark belt drives
I'm a Trance & Progressive man myself. Use 2 Denon CDJ's now alongside a 1210 for the vinyl I have. Sold one of the 1210's when I lost my job
Can send you some links to mixes I've uploaded if you want?

The reason I offered is that "mine" has line level output switchable to phono if required...
Easy peasy, you may need to help Tanya-t's, with the software, but I used the Vista software to WMA her vinyl, then AAc'd it into itunes later.
Hope you are well young'un.

The software you use. Can you not use it to convert to mp3? I never use anything like I-tunes on my pc. Always download and record as mp3 for cd's etc. Just simpler for me and my requirements. It's good though as 1. you have a backup of precious records and 2. you can get the little crackley bits which give the mp3 some character. I love it

If anyone can tell me the CHEAPEST way to convert cassette tapes to MP3 I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking a cheap lead from Maplins and some shareware software.

You rock!
Though I would ask where to plug it into on the computer? Would the microphone input socket suffice? I'm not expecting clear high kbps quality.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is all Vista btw.
Im only getting these on the "playback" tab
1) HDMI audio device - working
2) Speakers - Working
3) digital output device SPDIF - Working
And NOTHING on the "recording" tab. And I cant see how to install one? None of the options or tabs I can find are making any difference.
Iv ealso had a go at putting it in the microphone socket on the front. No joy. Tried in control panel to configure a microphone and it says "this wizard does not work" think thats the cause?

Don't use the front panel sockets, mine don't work.....
Use the line inputs and check the levels in properties, if a signal is being received then the volume bar graph should "move" even if you have no speakers to listen with.
Good luck !
dunx
P.S. Does the output have a volume control ?

Yes the little bar graph does move on the speakers option. I think the problem is the lack of "recording devices". Given that the sound card has the blue input there must BE one on the computer. But I dont know how to force vista to find it or let me install it manually.

Hey Dunx.
Thanks again for the replies
I went to Dells driver page and downloaded the "SigmanTel" driver for Audio it recommended. I know have 2 recording devices listed.
When I play the cassette on the stereo with the lead connected to the "line in" (blue socket) on the back of the PC, the little bar graph is jumping up and down. I also get the same if I connect it to the microphone socket.
However, there is still no sound coming from the PC. I've played a mp3 I have on the pc, so I know the speakers are working. Any further thoughts? No rush, Im going to go watch the F1 in a bit
As you can see Im using Audacity. I wonder if theres a setting in there I should click?
Thanks again
