Question Are You Renting?

Are you haggling hard for a reduction in Rent as the market is flooded?

Nope but the place is a total bargain anyway and no rent rises when prices where very high. Strengthens the case for no rises in the near future though.

This will mainly hit landlords that don't look after their existing tenants, and poorly maintain their properties.

Which can only be a good thing for the better quality of landlord.

Much the same really, £280 for a large 2 bed (bottom half of a house) flat, we've been here 5 years and my mate that lived here before only paid the same so cant complain about the service we don't get really, as said 'you pays ya money...............'

On a side note, a house around the corner is up for auction next month, 4 bed detatched with a guide price of £85-95k, pretty cheap really it went for £104k about 9 years ago. I was looking at it as an inverstment but that would mean having to spend my spare time and money on house instead of the Scoob, so sod it

Edit: The report states, 'The research suggested that Carlisle had seen the biggest rise in new rental homes at the start of the year'. Surely thats got more to do with the fact the place floods every year and they simply cant sell?

My Tenants are already on Fantastic deals !!!
I have always gone along the lines of keeping them (less hassle doing changeovers etc ),so I dont hike the price very often at all .

Give and take .

Pleased with my deal as well. Apart from single glazing and LPG heating, the place is amazing - 2/3 acre, coastal views, 3000 sq ft, stone built, all for £825 a month.

LPG heating - ouch. Bet that's pricey?
Got oil here but we did use over £200 a month of it this Winter!

About £10 a day on cold days, and that is having it at only 17C and only morning and evening.

John - that is very expensive!

We hope to reduce our oil useage next Winter - new baby meant the house had to stay warm all the time. We used more than twice as much as the previous Winter.

Ouch, it is ! £350 worth used since November, for half an hours heating every morning, and washing up / shave water.
Calor gas charge 49p a litre. Bp charge me 51p a litre to fill up my car, with full rate VAT and all that...
We've been renting from a local shootin' estate for 2 years now. Dog walking right over the road, extensive lakes 50 yards across the woods, big garden with room for chickens and sheep...
Very happy not having the hassle of owning at the moment!

Nixxon - same here and sounds like a similarish set up. We'll buy this place if it comes up for sale (originally the landlord planned to rent it for 2-3 years - 3 years later they seem happy still renting it to us) but renting suits us currently much better - and cheaper.

And it sounds like our fuel is cheap compared to LPG!

Champagne location for beer prices...

Oil has a higher calorific value than LPG as well!
