tv's with built in freeview
Hello
I am going to purchase a Toshiba TV (37RV555) which has built in freeview. However, I have BT VISION (freeview with HDD recorder) which I intend to keep using. Will this be a problem, can the freeview in the set be deactivated or bypassed?
Thanks
Nick

Yep, on new TV's the freeview is like a seperate section on the TV, what I mean is, you will have Terestrial, DTV (Freeview) and the AV channels. All selectable with your remote. You dont even have to tune in the Terestrial or built in freeview if you dont want to, just plug in the BT Vision box and select its AV channel, the same as you connect a DVD player to the TV for example. Im guessing the BT Vision box connects to the TV thru Scart or one of the other AV channels?
Bottom line, no the freeview 'box' inside your TV wont interfere at all, if anything, as a bonus, if your BT box breaks down you can still use the built in freeview.
Hope that helps. M.

TBH, I'd use the TV Freeserve tuner. I've found the quality of the BT Vision SD picture far worse, even though they share the same aerial signal (& passes through the BT box first).
Our BTV is used for watching films and its library of other goodies rather than for its std TV providings.

still use your BT Vision box, connect it to your TV via HDMi connection, set your BTvision box TV settings to either the HD ratio 720 or the 1080, depending on what your TV has.
least you can still record TWO channels with the BT Vision box and then watch another RECOREDED programme on the BT Vision HardDrive.. or another programme on the TV's freeview turner

Mate of mine just bought the 42" version of this tv, paid £599 with a 3 yr warranty.
Not too shabby a tv, though the sound is better when played through his seperate speker system.
Bro-in-law is looking to get the 46" version when he finds a good deal on it. Best so far is £765 delivered.
