I listened to Bernies reasons for introducing the new system. He seems to have woken up to the idea that overtaking in F1 is probably a good thing! I can understand his point in rewarding wins instead of consistent seconds and thirds, but Hamilton did win GPs. I remember Marcus Grondholm making the same point about Richard Burns in 2003 I think, Burnsie leading the championship with no wins, up till the last three rallies, but wins count eventually. Perhapse another look at the points system is needed. Bonus points for 4 wins? If they have to change the system, lets hope they don't go back to the best 7 results or however it worked in the 1970's. Just to remind the older members, 1970, Jochen Rindt. 5 wins, no other points finishes. World Champion. Hero.
