There are a lot of great car chases in Paris. Or do the French always drive like that?
Subway (apprarently filmed without permission)
Ronin
Taken
Rendezvous
Bourne Identity
I am sure there a loads more.

The Director seems to think it was Paris
"The DVD's paper insert includes excerpts from a Frankenheimer interview in which he discusses the chase through a Paris tunnel that is remarkably similar to the site of Princess Diana's death on 31 August 1997. The filming took place in a different tunnel, however. "Paris has a lot of tunnels," Frankenheimer commented. "That’s part of the thing about the city I wanted people to see. A crash in a tunnel in Paris is about as likely as someone having a crash on a freeway here. It happens all the time.""

Ok then,
The film has several chase sequences. The best (IMHO) and the one usually discussed is the the 'chase for the case' involving the Audi S8 and the assorted big Pugs and Citroen's with the big shootout in Nice. This is shot on the roads around and leading to Nice and in the town itself for the finale.
I The chase you refer to i believe is at the end of the film and yes is shot in Paris, will now have to watch the film (AGAIN)
I'll get my anorak

having been to paris many times its probably an everyday occurence so nobody bats an eyelid. god knows how they actually dont hit each other more often. the police have to direct the traffic at rush hour otherwise they would all clog it up.
only seems to be paris that is that bad.
that Ronin chase is great though, both the one in paris and the nice scene.
also the bourne identity had a chase scene there as well.

It's a total scam, watch it with no sound and then work out the distance covered and the speed. He never gets anywhere near 135mph, maybe 50mph.
Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB. Several independent groups have verified that the car in the film never reaches past 140 km/h (85mph)

Makes a statement of fact - is immediately proven wrong - then launches straight in to a vain attempt to justify his original fail
The (admittedly stunning) Nice chase might be the one 'usually discussed' by you Paul But the Paris chase is the one I see under discussion most, mainly with reference to the faces of Natasha McElhone (clearly having the time of her life) and Robert DeNiro (clearly not) as they are ferried around Paris in the best seats in the house

If you google Ronin car chase you can see where Mouldy cut and paste his bits and pieces.
Most peoiple i speak to talk about the chase witht the S8 in and around Nice first.
Justify myself - it is only SN and WGAF
