I made the very silly decision to go into a couple of sports shops recently looking for some running clothes. Ha, how silly of me! One (JJB or JD) was full of fancy jumpers and trainers that would cripple you if you tried to run in them. The other, Sports Direct had a fine selection of naff tracksuits for £5 but sod all "proper" stuff. Actually, they might have had some somewhere in the shop but you could barely move as they cram in so much stock, it's like an obstacle course to move round the store.
In the end, I went out of my way to visit a Decathlon store (which was very busy) and got exactly what I wanted.

'Why don't you sell in running gear, such as shorts and vests?'
'Well, erm, that's not really what the majority of our customers are looking for.'
'But you're a fecking sports shop yes?'
'Erm, yes.'

That's exactly how I felt the last time I went looking for some running gear. I almost had an argument with the store manager!
