I saw this earlier today but I was hoping I was dreaming. As far as I am concerned it was a campaign of terror, The only thing that will make me like this idea is if they lace all the IRA sympathisers cheques with anthrax.

This is one of the single most outrages ideas of all time.

I don't quite see why it all needs bringing up again. Not that I'm taking anything away from what happened and I don't begin to pretend to understand it all. However, is this not similar to constantly picking a scab so it won't heal?

Innocent civilians, yes some compensation may be in order dependant on the case.

Any players or sympathisers, good riddance.

I'd have thought it would have been reasonably straightforward to deny compensation to family/relatives of any one killed as a result of an illegal act by themselves. Or is that a bit simplistic? dl

Edited to ask - What, if any, compensation is given to families of soldiers killed in action overseas? Should NI be any different?

Compensation payments to families of victims is fine by me

However the families of murdering scum (prod or fenian) should get the thin end of **** all IMO

I've always wondered BTW, how many of those bomb makers really did accidentally blow themselves up, and how many were 'persuaded' to do it by the darker elements of the security forces :wonder

Guys,
With respect I'd say none of you really understand the anger this has created locally.

There was a protest yesterday and you could see quite clearly just pure hatred amoungst people there.

For example one guy who's son was in the police and shot by the IRA and the one he was **ahem** upset with someone whose son was an IRA member and shot by armed forces.

Dreadfull.

I've no idea why the pillocks have done this, they really would have been far better off doing absolutely nothing whatsoever.
Let sleeping dogs lie and all that.

Shaun

This is the sad byproduct of giving do-gooders power.

The whole thing makes my blood boil. Why they are on about giving money to the families of these terrorists is awful.

Why dont they use the money for local community projects?

Or, why dont they use the money for the men and women returning from Afganistan and Iraq who've been injured.

It's quite disgusting

It is almost as thought they do the most controversial acts just so that they can enjoy the power that they have to do it!
