Default Shingles.....not nice

I was feeling a little under the weather just before the weekend and felt a touch itchy and on Sunday I noticed a bit of a rash on my chest but then my wife pointed out the hoooooge rash I have on my back and under my arm.

Went to docs this morning (after having to register due to never going to doctors) and a 10 second consultation consisted of the doctor saying 'its shingles' and then thrusting me some literature on what it is and what I can and cant do.

Ive heard people say before how painfull they are and the grief they call.....just thinking they are big girls blouse but I can honestly say its bloody awful.

Had it when i was a kid...

bloody painful, but the treatment now is a lot easier.

used to be a quarantine-able disease.

it travels down the nerves, hence the pain.

horrid watery blisters that itch like fCk, and thats how it gets spread ...

I didn't think shingles could be spread? I was told it is a form of chickenpox which lies dormant in your spinal cord and then travels down your nerves to the skin. I had it about a year ago. Very bloody painful, couldn't wear a t shirt over the top of it because it was rubbing on the skin

Shingles aka Herpes Zoster.

Yes its from the same genetic pool that chickenpox comes from, and that can be spread.

Otherwise how do you get shingles??

Its contact with the blisters / if i recall that can allow the virus to spread

Well put it this way 6 weeks quaranteen when your 13 isnt to be sniffed at

my gp told me you can catch chickenpox from shingles blisters but you can never catch shingles, if that makes sense

Yes, I thought that Shingles was a mutated form of ChickenPox which is why it is not good if you are old to come into contact with someone who has ChickenPox if you haven't had it before.
