Default Sky HD Problems

Our first Sky HD boxed died over xmas. I turned it off as we were away for a week and when we came home it would not come out of standby.

Sky dude came out and the first replacement box wouldn't output over the HDMI. The 2nd replacement box won't record any HD channels. It either says FAILED or just doesn't attempt to record at all.

When we had HD our old + box would not come out of standby so we had a new one in our bedroom. This one is also playing up. When you pause the feed, it says "Recording interupted" but it wasn't recording.

Sky dude was supposed to come yesterday morning to sort it all out but didn't turn up.

don't sound like sky at all

The pace boxes are supposed to be better but not problem free they have some syncing problems.

The thomson have alot psu (which is a cause of alot of problems i.e no signal and resetting)problems down to rubbish capacitors. You can upgrade them yourself. I have a upgraded psu waiting to go in when my hd box plays up

I think I saw the Thompson PSU fix over on AVForums, but have lost the link. Where did you get yours from?

Cheers.

Google a site called satcure

You can buy the caps to solder youself , or a new psu already done (exchange basis)

I ordered the caps and did it myself on a customers hd box he told me to get rid of

Ours takes a while to 'warm up' before it will come off standby when we have just switched the telly on.

Can't complain I suppose.I remember the days of fiddling with the set top aerial to get a picture

Our first box was a Samsung so I thought that would last.

So the first box failed
The 1st replacement would not output over HDMI
The 2nd replacement works but won't record any HD channels and purchase films

This morning another Sky dude came.

The 3rd replacement box would not power on at all
The 4th replacement box works fine but got a call from my wife to say the box fan is too loud (A thomson) I can hear it over phone.

We are now waiting for Sky dude to come back this afternoon with box number 6.

My wife is bored having been off work after appendix removal so want to phone and give some stick. We are also still paying £10 for multiroom when it should be £5.

If you don't have sports and movies (apparently) you are able to have multiroom for £5 - I've also been told that additional boxes would also be £5 plus box and installation.

And when the chap finally turns up I will ask if its a refurb and if so I will add that to the complaint to Sky. They also forgot we were supposed to have half price HD for 6 months.

Freaking useless.

don't blame you mate, we do sky work 3rd party and we get customers not let sky anywhere in there house from bad experiance with some engineers.

But there is a few good ones out there.

I'm a sky customer and touch wood there billings have been ok.

Concerning the refurb box I think there policy is the same as ours first 14 or 28 (can't remember) days of installation your entitled to a new box replacement. After that they can send for repair or refurb.

Mateeboy said he knows someone high up in sky try him for ya complaint
