Well they clearly aren't in the Marrakesh I was in last year! It's a fabulous place with vibrant markets, top notch hotels, bars and restaurants.
Get them to read Marrakesh Travel Information and Travel Guide - Morocco - Lonely Planet
And be brave go and explore!

Was there last year for a long weekend last year and certainly found plenty to do.... open top bus tours, markets, sitting by the pool, eating out, camel racing etc etc

Plenty of places to change up money over there, most hotels etc. will also change up a travellers cheque for you. They might even have ATMs over there nowdays?

went a few years ago, Try the 4x4 ride over the Atlas mountains useing the Berber trails, rent a car and drive over Test and Tizi pass ( something like that ).Goats in trees are quite common out of town, the goats climb the trees to eat the fruit.( comical to see ) If you that way inclined the gardens designed by YSL. are worth a visit,
On the currency side you can only exchange in Morrocco, and dont bother to bring any back as it cant be exchanged. We found ATMs about near the hotel.
Nice way to spend early evening sitting having mint tea watching over the main ( madhouse ) square.

Sorry - slightly off topic. If I want to phone her mobile do I need to input an international code and perhaps lose the 0 at the start of her number?
And vica versa if she wants to ring her mum? dl

If you want to ring her from the UK then just call it as normal, i.e. 07...., the network will know that the phone is roaming and route the call accordingly.
For her to ring you, most mobiles require the number to be prefixed +44 and drop the 0 from the area code, so: +44 1234 123456
