Default What exactly are dints?

I've been looking to buy a new (old) car as a daily driver and many of the adverts have mentioned the cars has dints.

What the hell are dints? Do they mean dents? If so, why not say dents?

If it's to make it sound not quite as bad then I don't get it. BTW, I'm thinking of selling my old daily driver. No dents, rust or scratches but it covered with dints, rist and scritches. Oh yes, and the engine is totally ficked too.

It's a word that doesn't sound as bad as a dent ..... a dint is a small dent in essence

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

I guess that's why a lot of the ads say "but they've never bothered me". Is that code for "I'm still asking top dollar for it regardless"?

It's the same as "easily fixed". If it's that easy, why haven't they fixed it?

I've always called a dent a dint. Maybe that's just my poor use of the English language.

I have always thought that they mean a small dent, i.e, one caused by a car door as opposed to a size 10! 'Dints' are hardly noticable. 'Dents' are.
