Default Wall mount for 42" plasma

Having eventually purchased my new Plasma i need some hardware to mount it on the wall.....This guy on ebay has some nice black glass shelves with a cable tidy etc and also stocks some slim wall mounts for plasma screens.
These fit screen 38mm from wall..

- Plasma/LCD Wall Mount Bracket 32 37 40 47 42 50 BLACK on eBay, also, Wall Mounts Brackets, TV Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 05-Jan-09 23:19:44 GMT)

My question is will this mount be too close too wall for a Pannasonic TH42PX80B....ie will scart leads/cables foul wall as i know my mate had a similar problem...????

Thanks in advance.....

I have just fitted a 62 inch plasma for a friend. It took 3 of us to lift and position it.
You are correct regarding the leads, you will need some clearance behind the TV.
I used 4 timbers at 150mm wide x 800mm long and 30mm deep.
Affix 2 timbers to the wall (central to the back of the TV). You should now be looking at the 2 fixed timbers that are giving you a premeter measurment of 800mm x 600mm at 30mm deep.
Fix the other 2 timbers on to the timbers you have just affixed to the wall.

The fixings to use for the first 2 timbers need to be 80 - 100mm long frame fixings at 10mm dia. ( I am assuming your wall is brick or concrete block and not a stud wall). If it's a stud wall you have a problem.

When fixing the final 2 timbers on to the already fixed timbers just use good quality h/duty wood screws at 60mm long.

Frame fixing x 12 Nr + 12mm masonry drill bit for the first 2 timbers
Wood screws x 12 Nr + 6mm pilot wood bit for timbers 3 & 4.

Fit the TV brackets central on the timbers and position TV.

The timbers will be hidden behind the TV and you will have a 60mm gap for plugging in the scart leads etc.

Hope that all makes sense

Or just buy the Pioneer wall mount, which is made to be the right depth - job done

Whoa....!!!!! I was expecting to bolt the mount directly to the wall.I dont want to fix timbers to the wall(concrete block)etc.....

So i need a mount that sits approx 60mm from wall to accomodate scarts etc...

This looks a deal........whats the difference between these and ones that look identical but are more than twice the price????

Plasma/LCD TV WALL BRACKET MOUNT 32 34 37 40 42 46 47 + on eBay, also, Wall Mounts Brackets, TV Accessories, Consumer Electronics (end time 06-Jan-09 17:52:33 GMT)

This is either the one or very similar to the one I have for my 42PX70. Its been on the wall for 18 months without issue. Theres a few cms gap from the wall to the head of a scart lead with the TV fully tilted down.

Very easy to put up - biggest wall plugs I've ever seen!

Check out AVRabbit online - no affiliation but I recommend the Premier mounts. You wont need to build out the wall or anything just use good fixings. I forget what we normally use but 100mm long should suffice, in other words heavy weight fixings and plenty of them.

Most of the weight is downwards so I wouldnt worry too much!

I wall mounted my Panasonic 42 inch plazma last year but using an elbow bracket so that when I am having my tea I can swivvel it forward and round.

As for the fixing, I couldn't bear the thought of all that weight using the supplied plugs, so I bought 3 lenghts of 1m threaded bar, chopped them in half and drilled straight through to the outside where I have large washers and nuts securing the bracket.

If you email the seller of the bracket he should be able to tell you what clearance you will have.
There is a recess where my scarts sockets are to allow a closer fitting.

If you don't get the answers, try AV Forums, a world of info on there.

I used the supplier from Avforums,

he supplied the flat bracket & all the fixings, to cover all manner of sets.

i bought the wall plug fixings he recommended, and as some overkill, added 4

wall anchors.

To confirm it was going to stay up, i hung an old faulty one i had on the bracket overnight

it also comes with some security fixings, which stop the unit from being lifted of the mount

and very reasonably priced too

Rooferman,
I mounted the same TV on a mount from AVRabbit, I looked about and similar ones were close to £100. I decided on this after searching threads on here
I got mine delivered next day for under £40.
Fits like a charm.

in fact it was this one

Mine is mounted onto a stud wall so I hung my weights off the installed bracket overnight to be sure to be sure before I hung the TV.

i used an one called omni mount, it was a big frame bolted to the wall, then the tv litrely just hooked on the frame and locked in place, was dead easy, it also has a bit for a padlock so that someone cant just lift it off, never had any cable problems with depth

i think it was this one

This is the company I used.
M-Form - Home

I went for a flush mount, if you tell them what you want they can advise..

That said the flush mount allows the unit to be swung out to plug the scarts, hdmi's etc in (tight mind )

near on next day delivery, and bl**dy good customer service, there were

a couple of screws i,d mislaid, a quick email, and he was ready to drop them

in the post next day
