Default Lost my dog

It's a very sad day for me today. I lost my Bulldog bitch Tilly yesterday. Iv'e just buried Her in Her favourite place in the garden. Iv'e still got Albert my male Bulldog, but i'm absoloutley gutted as are the kids. Albert keeps on looking for her and barking for Her. I really hate it when this happens and iv'e decided when it's Alberts time, thats it no more dogs. I will enjoy the rest of Alberts time and thats that. A fond farewell to Tilly, who will be sorely missed.

Webby.

Sorry to hear that and to hijack the thread...

I'm looking to buy/take a rescue dog.... trouble is that they all look like (on various web sites) flea bitten devil dogs!

Any good sites people?

Sorry to hear that mate Never nice to lose a pet.
On a serious note, I hope her scent is well covered up and she cant be found by Albert or other wildlife, thats really never nice.

Was bad enough when we send one of the dogs away to kennels, the other dog is always sad, so I really dread the day one is gone forever

What breed you after, or open minded? A lot of main breeds have their own rescues.

Open minded really, just looking for something that needs a home, already house trained and is chilled out.... attack dogs need not apply

I'm gutted for you webby I remember when my previous Staffy had to be put down, my current one (and his best mate) spent days looking for him. It was heartbreaking.

I always say never again but I miss having a dog around too much, they're such good company.

Thanks Guys n Gals, kids went up the garden tonight with some home made memorials and the wife got the photo's out. Alberts still looking everywhere for her. I even lit the fire in the back room for him, it's his favourite place. And he ignored it and sat outside barking.

My mate had to put one of his dogs down last week he has 4 more, and its pretty painful for him as she was a lovely dog but dont be put off not getting another one, the point is that they become companions, they are family and its always painful to lose a family member and even though you can never replace your last dog, you can give another one a good life with you share many good years and lots of fun with you and your family.
They also guard your home, keep you company on cold nights, take you past the pub when walking and they miss you when your out even for a few hours.

Have a search on google for your local dogs home, go find a nice rescue dog or go get a nice pup

Tony

I know how you feel, I lost my dog when she was 14 ..... for about 4 years I didn't get another, but then it got too much and I got another - and haven't regretted it since.

Sorry to here your news Webby.Pets can be as close as family members,That may sound silly to people who have never bonded with a pet,But they are a loyal friend no matter what.

Sorry to hear about Tilly, Webby. It's heartbreaking when they go - I said never again, no more when we lost Ben in May, but 6mths on the house was too quiet and we got another one.

I will never get over losing Ben as he was my doggy version of a soul mate, but Ella has brought the life back to our home, and I love her to pieces.

I hope Albert settles down soon - I'm sure your kids love him to bits, and will soon help to ease his missing piece

i also lost my border collie - also named ben a couple of years ago, i was heartbroken and still really miss him now, so a lot of us know what you are going through (apart from non dog owners who can be sooooooo insensitive, they don't realise though) as for albert, he can still smell tilly and will may take a while to adjust, but he will adjust. I remember saying to myself when my collie died that i would never have another dog, i just didn't want to feel so upset all over again, but after a while, sadness goes away and happy memories take over and the reasons for not wanting another dog seem irrelevant as it is human nature to want to be happy and to forget sadness,....................after a year we got misty, a beautiful staffy pup, she'll never replace ben, but she has filled a gap in our lives. the kids adore her, as do i.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. We used to have two cats and when one died the other one used to go and sit by her grave in the garden. It is awful to lose a pet, but when we lost the second cat at the age of 22, we found the best way to get over it was to get another cat.
