I love the way that our government wants schemes like this which blanket target everyone, when at the same time they've introduced RIPA and HRA which only protect those ******* the police, security services, and armed forces (because all those wonderful laws apply in Iraq and Afghanistan as well) actually have a reason to conduct surveillance on.

Not a chance. They are all the same. Why else haven't we heard any statements from Cameron and co. about reversing all these new ideas and laws?

The political game in the UK is now like the US and played out in centre ground with two parties who are closer to each other than ever before. Oh and neither are socialists by the way.

The Conservatives are against the ID cards and will abolish them, they will also reduce the collection of DNA for those that sneeze (well it must be a crime!).
But the phone log was deemed not a good idea by the EU, even the commision is concerned at the amount of control this Government want over the whole population.

The only thing that seems to unsettle the three main political parties is when one of the smaller ones gets representatives elected.

Then again they conveniently allow the leaking of membership details of one of these parties and then wanted to sack members from government funded jobs (as if they didn’t already know who the members were!) so pick which one you vote for carefully

Have they actually said this? I mean in clear policy terms? If so where is it published? If they have fair play to them, but whenever I see them questioned on the subject they make the right noises but never say anything concrete. Same as they are about most things really.

Databases only targets people who are on the system.

So if you have a PAYG sim card obtained from a mate (or stolen phone) which doesn't log your address, you use cash to trade with, false ID of your dead aunty's cousin, use internet cafés and WiFi hotspots for your 'net access. Then basically you're ok to carry on as usual with your terrorist plannings:

And its those people not on the databases who most likely to be criminals and to organise terrorist acts. So a database will do nothing to stop this. It only targets the law-abiding (and no doubt punish them whenever they make an obvious, but minor mistake that is against the law, like parking on a double yellow or renewing the car tax 2 days late).

Yes well that's a start, but what I mean is that if the scheme gets rolled out will they abolish it? That is the question they always evade when asked it.

Hopefully it won't get rolled out as hopefully this government's time is up, but stranger things have happened and Cameron doesn't really have a clear lead in the polls which is staggering quite frankly.

I think the Conservatives need to be more upfront and outspoken on policy. If they stated quite clearly some common sense policies on ID cards, road pricing, law and order, immigraton, the economy etc. I can't see how they could lose the next election, but they just seem so wishy washy in their approach that a lot of people would rather the devil they know.

Frankly I don't trust either party so doesn't make any difference to me, but it staggers me how Cameron isn't simply a dead cert for the next election.

My little brother lived in Sydney for five years and then came back and stayed with me for two years until his immigration was sorted out (a long story). The little bollocks didnt stop sulking until Southern Australia confirmed his state sponsored nomination and he was off to Adelaide within a fortnight!

Its not right for everyone, but some people love it.

Annoying that people think the answer is to have to leave. When alls said and done, the people have the power but chose not to use it. Whats the population of this country? 60 million?

one of the operators from this country has already been out with full intentions of staying and came back with his tail between his legs because he was not cut out for it.

the car wash market over in oz is just about to explode, they simply do not have anything like a conveyor car wash so it is all new tech to them.

state? had not even got as far as questioning it yet, as soon as they are building the sites they are becoming busy as hell apparently. so basically i could have any new site that is built (iirc they are doing 5 new sites per year in oz)

the thing that puts me off is the sheer amount of time and energy i put into mine in the past 5 years, especially in the first 2, it really hammered me down doing the 74hour weeks and only getting 4 days off per year

i can imagine it being a good bit harder to establish from scratch in a foreign country, heard that a few of our engineers went out to help build some of the sites and i think 2 of them stayed full time, but people always talk **** and tend to bump up just how good things are

i think the wise choice is to hang back for a bit and see how the uk market changes, if the new laws come in regarding the banning of car washing in any other place bar a designated wash site then i would be stupid to move!

it just pisses me off that in the first 6 months of the year we were on course to beat the previous years figures again, and then due to the credit crunch bollocks plus all the rain we have had recently, it turns out that my profit is now 10 grand down on the previous year

from an estimated increase in profit, to 10 grand down, in 6 short months and some people have the cheek to winge about not getting a decent pay rise
