I am looking for a hotel in Barbados for a week or so. Some thing that provides food and may be even watersports would be a benefit.

I have found a deal for a flight (not yet booked), and have seven nights booked via a friend of a friend in a private house.

Any suggestions or even where to look for "all inclusive" deals in that region would be appreciated.

Regards, Alan

Practically anywhere on the west coast is nice.
Accra Beach Hotel is nice.
Make sure you go to After Dark [allegedly they can mix any cocktail you care to ask them for].

My girlfriend has got family over there, so never stay in a hotel -but it does really depend on budget.

Otherwise Sandy Lane it gotta be !

Oh - and harbour lights is a must as well...

Accra beach is one of the nice ones with watersports etc, but I shall ask her tonight if there are any other good suggestions.

Thumbs up

Sandy Lane! Oh yes! Stayed there in '94. Dogs conkers. I'm sure they'd wipe your **** for you if you asked. Bit pricey, and has had major refurbishment since, so not sure what it's like now, but it won't be bad by any standards.

Failing that, anywhere on the west is nice. Don't touch the east coast with a barge pole.

Sandy Lane and West Moreland are the most recently opened/refurbished hotels. Reassuringly expensive at $1000 a night.
Harbour Lights is very good and in center of Bridgetown.
Baxters Road used to be the late night place to be but now its Oistins. Street Fest to the max and very cosmopolitan.

I went in May last year with the g - friend and a couple of ours that are good friends...

Any how myself and my mate - spent two nights on the trot sitting on the beach watching the sun come up and swimmers come down, with a bottle of Mt Gay in hand after having left harbour lights earlier - thats the trouble its too damn hot at night so you don't get cold and need to go in...

Lovely place !

My old company had an office there - I was always wanting to get transferred !

In all honesty [for once] I spent one session drinking Mt Gay and the next with VSOR.
My preference is VSOR so I get my mum/brother to send a bottle every now and then.

Cheers for all the advice on Barbados.

I have been out there before (day trips on my way to work in South America). In that time I have seen three Sandy Lane hotels. The original was refurbished with a new look, then the new owners, demolished that completely and built a new one.

Visited it once - not my style, everyone sitting around in silence sipping tea from fine china. Much prefer a Banks Beer in a cold glass.

I think I've found a deal with Virgin Holidays - £1,600 All inclusive two weeks in two locations - Antigua - Barbados, all I need now is to extend the flight out for a week.

Alan

Alan,

Being a Wimbledon man - you probably know the Hamptons Office In the village ( Estate Agents )..

Anyhow - that is where I used to work and they have a fantastic villa complete with pool and power boat, just up the road from Sandy Lane - always wanted posting there ... Changed jobs before I had a chance..

Have a fantastic Time !

Paul,

Shame you missed out, but I'm not surprised at any estate agent in Wimbledon village owning such properties overseas.

There is some serious cash in the Village.
