I know I've had many ideas but I can't decide!!
I want something understated, so no Imprezas or Evos!!
I'd prefer something with a turbo, but a good V-TEC engine would be fine. I'd like something Golf-type size, but nothing as big as a Legacy for example. 4WD or FWD prefered, but ideally not RWD. The car will probably be tuned as well!!
Budget can vary from £10k to £20k, as the purchase would not be straight away.
Short list so far:
Audi S3
Honda Integra Type R (although not the Civic, as I don't like the looks)
VW Golf V6 4Motion (ready to have a supercharger fitted)
Subaru Forester S-Turbo
Any other ideas, or any reasons to rule out what I've thought of?
Thanks
Andy

The S3 gets my vote Andy. Good in standard form anyway, but probably the one with most potential after being Tango-ised.
There are some v.high bhp versions in Germany, but I'm sure you'd give them a run for their money!

I was always very proud of my prelude (1995 shape). One of those cars where it looked good on the inside as well as out (well then anyway).
vtec helps too.

You know me, I won't be happy with *only* 230bhp!!
And I'm not sure that FWD can cope with what I have in mind!
Only an Integra would be left fairly standard engine wise!!

Had a track blast in an Integra last year (older shape)
Great car - not sure about the looks, but otherwise I'd reckon it's got to be in your test drive list...

Andy, my old Man bought a new Integra last year - he's nearly 70! - and it's a great car. Very light weight (even the windscreen's made thinner to reduce weight) - excellent handling and great engine - rev's to over 8500rpm and what a sound when the vtec cut's in! Flip side is he's shredded the front tyres in 3k and has had to put them on the back. It's now done 6k they will all need replacing - Bridgestone Potenza's same as my Scooby). Trouble is getting the power down on the road, pulling away results in instant bonfire unless your careful......Also very noisy and firm ride - but thats cos it handles well - again car is basicaly stripped out to reduce weight. Not a lot of difference in performance between his and my MY01 in the dry. Not sure on the looks though...
Tough - but fun - choosing a new car I know!

forrester, still nearly an impreza, plus we'd still allow you to come to the meets, in fact, you'd be one of the only forresters to come along, not seen one at a meet before!

Andy, I know you dont want RWD but have you thought of a Skyline GTS? Straight 6, single turbo and 280bhp as standard. I want one cos with GTR bodykit no-one will know the difference and it'll be cheaper to insure.
Plus, its a skyline mate.
astraboy.

Skline GTS is 250-260 BHP on the earlier models.
Andy - you want a nice Toyota/Lexus soarer. If speed and mods are your thing go for the 2.5 6 cylinder twin turbo. A few mods like new turbo's etc can take the power up to 450bhp. Good for 199mph.
pick em up for 5k - need about 10k of mods but 200mph for 15k ain't bad!!!

Save those pennies and get a skyline
Move on, not back so its 400bhp+ you'll need
You know it makes sense
