Best place for loans?
#1
Hi,
Does anyone know a good place to get a loan from? Its for 12k and the best APR I can find at the moment is 8.9% with the AA!
Can anyone get better?
Thanks in advance.

Could consider the low rate credit cards (0% to 5%) and bounce the money to another at the end of the low rate period - however monthly payments are likely to be higher that those on a personal loan

I can wholeheartedly recommend Egg - good rates (10.2 ish), but flexible payments, no penalty for early redemption, and the opportunity to take three "payment holidays" a year should you so desire.
It suits my financial needs, yours will be different

Try www.moneysupermarket.com
Lombard Direct are doing 7.4% down to £13999 - can't remember what the rate is for £12k.
Edit: but that blooming site is down today. Go direct to Lombard Direct here: www.lombarddirect.com

Am I missing a trick with this parents thing... I've never actually had a loan (except mortgage ) and don't recall being able to borrow money with no requirement to pay it back - Damn, seem to have managed to be in the situation of giving loans/gifts far more Any advice... Do I need to exchange my parents for Adam's or just nick/borrow/rent some richer ones

Never mind what the APR is, its the flat rate which counts. If you ask what this is half the time they either dont know or wont tell you...You can batter some of the big lenders down to 4.40% PAF which is very good....
£12k over 36 and 48 months is £377.33 & £294.00 and be very careful when they insist on their credit protection insurance as half the time its not worth the paper its written on...Not teaching you how to suck eggs or anything...I just hate the way some of these companies operate

Cahoot may seem the cheapest around at 7% but if you dig deeper you soon find that 7% is variable. Add to that the fact that you cant pay your loan off early as far as I can see. Much better going with Lombard Direct or Sainsburys at around 7.4%.
