Now they want supermarkets to take your finger prints
Latest government madness is that they are going to try to force Supermarkets to gather biometric data from customers for their ‘database’.
Of course the majority of the sheeple will probably just go along with it. My advice if they try it – give them nothing. Complete non cooperation is the only response this kind of sh*t merits.
I can't believe they are even suggesting such a scheme.

The collection of the data isn't the issue, it's what it'll be used for, who'll have access to it and the integrity and security of the data.
I work in the IT industry and I haven't seen ANYTHING to convince me our data will be safe and used for the benefit of the law abiding public.
Until 'the powers that be' stop putting critical data on USB memory sticks, laptops they leave on the train and my permission is needed by anyone that wants to use it, my answer is the same as stilover's.

I don't reckon that they care if the information is compromised anyway. All they want is all our information to hand for their own purposes. I would not trust any government with that volume of information on the public as well as all the cameras they have to see where we are as well. Orwell was a very far seeing man!

Sorry, have I missed something here? I'm sure I heard a government minister say that if we have nothing to hide we have nothing to fear?
Muahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Sorry, seriously though, if shops are collecting our biometrics, HOW is that secure?

Well I wont give mine, if it means leaving the country or voting Tory then thats what I'll do.
This removal of freedom should worry us all. My grandparents my father and other relatives fought in two world wars, some losing their lives to ensure that people could be free.
I wonder what they would think of the people of good old blighty being the most spied and the most controlled people in the world.
Have you ever wondered why no one else is doing this?
As some one else said its also what its going to be used for. Like terrorist legislation being used by councils to snoop on what sort of rubbish you put in your bin and if you put your bin out too early.

What a fantastice opportunity!
Oiks in shops will not be capable or incentivised to adequately check your ID to match the biometrics taken.
Type in a false name and address, smile at the camera through your false moustache with one eye closed. Repeat over several weeks so that your fingerprints appear in multiple database entries. Get your mates to do the same with your id. When the database is finished and it contains details of 240 million UK citizens they might get the message.
I guess that wanted criminals whos prints are already in the database would be reluctant to submit to this system

Can't see them lining up for this one.
All this is for, is so the Government can see where you go every day, what you spend your money on, and how they can use this information to Tax you more.

If it were introduced, you could have fun with it:
Go to the pharmacy section of the supermarket and buy loads of condoms, lube and industrial strength soap, then to the DIY section for some gaffer tape, then to the sports goods store for a hockey mask, then, on the way to the till, pop by the comic book section and buy a selection of Barbie/action man comics!
Pay at the till, smile sweetly and see if you can get out of the store without being pounced on by undercover police!

How many more breaches of data? how many more "administrative costs" in collecting the data will follow.
Given this lots appalling track record at looking after data, why should we trust them.
Oh and BTW we already have 5 national identity cards in place
why do we need another?

The funniest things get said by politicians ... from BBC NEWS | Politics | People 'can't wait for ID cards'
" ... The cards will be available for all from 2012 but she said: "I regularly have people coming up to me and saying they don't want to wait that long." ... "
WTF? How many of your friends call up our Jacquie and say 'hey, hurry up with those ID cards can't you? I don't feel safe .....' ??

No she forking doesnt... What does she take us for?
I like the way that politicians use ficticious public approaches as signs of support and therefore justification for ludicrous policies

The government, at MASSIVE expense, has set up a network of Interrogation Centres (run by a private, tax-dodging, company) to ensure that when you apply for a passport you are who you say you are! They will cross-reference your credit history and other official records to confirm that you are indeed who you say you are - but they don't yet take fingerprints.
However Kylie, on checkout three, will soon be able to swipe yer digits and upload your details to the NIR forever along with your preference for microwave ready-meals, beer intake and newspaper choice!!
Just what kind of morons do we have trying to run this country???

Its time we did something and voted these idiots out, if this were France they would be smashing the streets up, and rightly so. Us British just lay down and take the ****, i'm even guilty of it myself.
If this ID scheme happens, i will be leaving this country for good, which would be a shame as i love England but i can no longer say it is the greatest nation in the world.
