Default Is there a diesel shortage???

For the past week or so it has been a nightmare trying to buy diesel in my area... the local Esso has been out of diesel on the 2 attempts I have made to buy some juice ( today being the latest)....The garage where I managed to put in a whole £20 had most of it's pumps covered, and then today, i finally found somewhere which had full diesel pumps!!

Is it just my luck to find the ones who have had a rush on the stuff, or is it in short supply, and I've missed the panic threads about it?

Didn't you read, been in the papers all last week, they don't make it anymore. Lot of diesel cars will end up in the scrap heap by the looks of it.

Not good

Maybe if you did, you wouldn't need as much fuel in the first place?

Can't say I've noticed any problem round here, other than the car being thirstier than usual thanks to the cold weather and traffic. I've been getting through around 10-20% more fuel per mile than usual, so maybe if everyone's finding the same then there's a knock-on effect in supply?

First time I've put fuel in it for 3-4 weeks due to a combination of Catherine using it & fuelling it and working from home Finally there is a plus point to driving a vectra and that is to not actually drive it

If you mean the one in Holtspur, yup, me too. Went for fuel, ended up doing a drive-through wondering where it had all gone.

Though as the car is a diesel, it still managed to get all the way to Farnham to visit a mate. So I filled it up @ Farnham Sainsbury's. The joys of 50MPH motoring.

We had a problem at the weekend. Hired a van to move some furniture about and normally they come with a full tank of diesel, but this time it was nearly empty. I went all the way from Maidenhead to Egham before I found a petrol station that had any diesel (at least 7 stations were tried). We asked at one and he said there had been a problem at the refinery and supplies had been disrupted. It appeared that it mostly affected BP and Esso stations.
