My week from hell is just about at an end.

Monday:
-Phone call from the boss giving me official notice that I'm at risk of redundancy and explaining how my team will be cut in half.

Tuesday:
- Internal interview for a new role on project A (40 miles round the M25 each day)
- Phone call from the boss telling me how they are making their decisions on who get the jobs

Wednesday:
- Internal interview for a new role on project B (20 miles round the M25 each day, more senior position)
- Phone call from the boss telling me that I'm surplus to requirements and have 2 weeks to get a new role.

Thursday:
- Confirmed that project A is offering me the role.
- Confirmed that project B is offering me the role.
- Accept role on project B.

Friday:
- Collapse in heap of nervous exhaustion.


Here's hoping you all have had a slightly less stressful week than I did!

Dave, I know what you're saying mate. There were guys on my team who were in their late 50s who will struggle to find roles internally and probably won't work again

Just found out yesterday that my Uncle/cousins business has gone t1ts up.

Laid off all there staff, and are expecting the bailifs to come knocking next week.

Though times ahead.

To be fair, he did go about it the right way with HR & senior management involved. We've been going through a massive restructuring over the last couple of months affecting all of our UK business and we were probably one of the last teams to get hit.

On the plus side, I'm now out on chargeable work for a decent period of time hopefully long enough to ride out the economic downturn... (now where's a fingers crossed smilie?)

im gone at the end of jan unfortunately because the contract we are on only has small numbers, our company only need to give us 30 days notice so although we know we are going (site closure) we will probably get notice at christmas!! boo hoo bloody merry xmas

It means if I find another job before the notice is given then I wont be entitled to anything
