How embarassing! A 120d!!! Some people will try and race in anything!

NB: 120 litres @ BMW's official combined 58.9 MPG (= 4.8 litres / 100km) = 1500 miles or 2500km !!!!

OK I know he ain't going to quite match those figures, but he was clearly fuelled for a ridiculously long stint if the 120 litres is true.

Oh dear. The race should have been stopped before they all started piling in really. That's the problem with such a big race track!

Did they not have any marshalls there? That should've been a red flag job

LOL

Not quite match indeed. - probably getting around 10 mpg in race trim (at best)

I'd be pretty pi$$ed if it was me coming around that corner and then after passing the 'crash'.......coming around the corner to see that pileup getting closer..VERY quickly!!!

Some idiots though just ignoring the fact there had been a crash and coming too fast. Large number of cars did make it through because of sensible driving!

5t.

Dunno about that. The worst I've got from mine (although admittedly it's not race tuned) when driving pretty enthusiastically is about 38mpg. Usually average around 50

I like how some cars after piling into someone, just reversed up and sped off again. A complete mess

Most of that mess was avoidable by drivers being more cautious.

Totally agree. However, it seemed that there was no prewarning of the severity of the pileup after the first crash. As said earlier, didn't seem to be any marshalls.

Its just horrible to watch so many skidding off.

But, when you are in racing situation, being 'cautious' might not be at the top of your priorities list!

Could have been a lot worse I suppose if it was 120 litres of petrol and caught light.

Too right! Otherwise it's not racing...it's Time Attack.

Here's my missus throwing caution to the wind - She's in the dark blue car that squeezes past the light blue one involved in the big smash.

what the hell was that Porsche trying to do???? reversing on to the track then bouncing it off the rev limiter and still not getting it to move, I would have given up if I was him.
