Unhappy Whats wrong with my knee

When i knelt down a few days ago the centre of my knee cracked and i had imense pain, it felt someone had hammered a nail in to my knee

I just knelt down again (thinking that whatever I did has gone) and I collapsed in pain worse than before, what have I done???

Its only a small 1cm circle dot just below the bump of my knee that hurts, if I lean on either side its fine, will i have to get a new knee?

Is it swollen? You might have done some damage to the cartilage

don't think age has much to do with it - I have arthritus in my knees - when they get cold or if I've been dashing around more than usual they tend to swell and get VERY sore.

I do sometimes get the pain if I kneel down onto one knee directly onto the knee cap - it is very painful and feels to me sometimes like something has popped out. Go and see your doctor and rhuematoid blood test can usually tell - if not possible x-ray.

Have you ever had a knee injury? Play football alot?? excessive exercise lately etc etc

I had the same..eventually went away...dunno what it was!

Like kneeling on a stone whenever I knelt down....very painful

Answer.... leave it alone to mend... or amputation as CD suggested..

Yup, from the neck down If the pain is in the inside of the joint, if you see what I mean, it could be loose cartilage. On the outside, more likely to be a pulled or damaged tendon or ligament, or even a trapped nerve. If it stays painful for more than a couple of days, get it checked out.

As little Ginge says, it sounds like a torn cartilage

An arthroscopy (knee operation) is what you'll need.

I've had 2 on the same knee 20 years apart.

The relief you'll feel when you recover from the general anaesthetic is quite remarkable ie. NO pain and pretty much walking perfectly again. Best of luck.

Sorry you have that problem. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious-you are a bit young for that kind of trouble.

Now that sounds more like it! I thought it was cracked but thought it was too strong a bone for it to happen

I have already had housemaids knee before on my other knee (knee cap feels like a golf ball is glued on it!) but this new knee injury has no swelling but imense pain when pushed on. Infact my pain thresh hold is not to bad but when i accidently rested on it the other day i end up rolling in a circle and collapsing on the floor in pain.

off to the doctors next week, im sure hje will say its nothing and too come back in 6 months if it still hurts

If you can straighten your leg it won't be crutiate or cartliage problems as I have both of those and know exactly how painfull they can be. If however something has pierced the skin ??? It could be septisemia, its a kind of blood poisoning and I have had this also Easy way to check on that, is that there is usually a red rash of sorts which heads its way to your heart If its that its on a drip every 3/4hours for a few days lol

Your best bet is your quacks as no one can tell you over the internet
