I was amazed at the turnout for an American candidate in Germany. Why did they turn out for him?
He's off to France today and he might get the same welcome there. Can't see British people turning out in their thousands to listen to him make a speach. We can't even do that to protest about fuel prices.

I reckon it's because he's a clear and effective speaker. I can't think of any politician who has been so captivating to listen to in recent years. Well apart from William Hague i suppose, but nobody took much notice of him.

BTW, you speak, but you make a speech. Sorry can't help myself
Also, you must be happy now that world influences, namely the reduction in crude oil prices, are bringing down the cost of petrol, waaay more effectively than any misguided fuel protest ever could have done, right?

I reckon it's because the civilized world is desperate to see the back of the Republicans. It's not just the front man like Dubbya or Oven Chip: it's all the money-grabbing "policy" makers in the background that need to go. Whether the Democrats will be any better? Dunno, Clinton wasn't much better.
Whilst I'm on this train of thought, has anyone else noticed how the TV media regularly roll out former US Cabinet Ministers (or whatever they're called) from the Democratic Clinton era and yet they still publicly fully support the ideas of the Republican President when it comes to any Foreign Policy. That's not a democracy that's just scary.

He is a very effective speaker and seems to be a pretty likeable sort of chap. very similar in that way to JFK or Clinton. The ablity to comunicate is paramount and he can certainly do that.
I wonder how his countrymen will view him however, and whether he would be as strong as one would want him to be.

Why is he even flying round the world talking to these political leaders, he's a candidate for persident and the american people havent voted him into power just yet!
Whats getting on my nerves is way the media are covering this, its almost like there in love with him or something! Surely there is more important things to report?

Nothing wrong with him going around the world to see things for himself and meet world leaders to improve his own knowledge.
Good to see an American taking a bit more interest for once in a bit more than just his own country.
