Parking At Nottingham?
I'm going to an evening event at the Arena and wondered where the best place might be to park (don't know the area at all).
I see they have a park & ride but I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere late at night.
Any advice from locals greatly appreciated

Like most park and rides it's somewhat out of the way, but it's pretty reasonable. You may have a fair walk from the Broadmarsh unless they are putting on special buses and I don't know what time the last bus is. It's pretty safe round the Park and Ride, you're far more likely to get shot up by the arena itself.
Notts also has a tram which is worth considering. I tend to park in the Talbot Street car park as it has one of the best reputations around. Nearest tram stop is about 50m away just past Rock City.

You can park on my drive and get the bus which stops about 1 min walk away from my house. It'll drop you off outside the arena.
Or if I'm about, I'll give you a lift in. I'm nice like that.

How did you guess? Saw them last month but decided to go again it was so good, and bonus this time as Thunder is the support (last month it was Black Stone Cherry).

You'll have no problem parking at the secure 'ARENA Car park' £3 a car and magpie security patrol it all night, its on the site of the Sneinton Market. 30sec walk from the Arena.
failing that park at mine and i'll run you in and pick you up
ps, i wouldn't do the park and ride.

Deffo not the park and ride at Phoenix Park (the one for the tram).
There are other secure car parks in the city - the best is reckoned to be on Talbot St. Bit of a walk to the Arena, but not too bad. Me, I'm taking the bus from home but then I'm a local lad.
So who else is going to be standing tonight then?

This is the best for the arena - 5 minutes walk on a safe street
Metro Car Park Nottingham
very secure - on site office 24hr manned - only £2.50 for the night
pop into the office and pre pay the fee so no queuing on the way out
shuttered entry and exit
door only opens with a ticket.

I heard that everyone who lives in, lives near, parks in, stays at, or thinks about Nottingham gets shot

Not true. I've never been shot/shot at in the 46 years I've been here. In fact the only shooters I've seen have been the ones that come in a glass. In a bar.

Well we made it in and out alive and so did the car (despite my fella going the wrong way on a main road so apologies to anyone who had an Evo steaming towards them around 11.30 last night). We parked in the Metro just because that was the first place we found and very nice it was too
Tony and Bonehead I did wave to you both but you were too busy with your air guitars.
Had a bit of a job finding our way out of the city centre, heading to the M1 North we had to take a four mile detour just to come back to the exit on the same roundabout, I pity anyone having to do that in rush hour traffic.
Other than that we had a fab night, thanks again for all your help especially Scooby Won't and Salsa-King

We were just behind you in the green scoob.
What did you think of the gig?
I'd been to Birmingham & Sheffield (Twas me birthday last month and the Leps are me favs). Me mate thought Leppard blew Whitesnake off the stage. Annoyingly we missed Thunder thanks to work delaying us - bugger..

I thought that D/L were the better act by far at Sheffield but last night (IMO) the sound was poor, the bass seemed overpowering and I thought JE struggled a bit in parts, still enjoyed it though.
We just made it in for Thunder, had doors open time as 6.45pm on our tickets and were actually in the loos at 6.40pm and heard them starting up, got home at 2am to an answering machine message from Ticketmaster saying they were now opening the doors at 5.45pm...they were excellent BTW.
I'm a huge Whitesnake fan so I wouldn't exactly agree with your mate but D/L were more polished I'll give him that
