I was sitting this morning watching an episode from season 7 of DS9 when this little gem of a scene came up. I had completely forgotten about it and simply can't stop laughing. I don't expect non-st fans to understand or get it, but I just love the way Worf just snaps and without hesitation reacts. Pure class, true Klingon

That may be the case but the plot(s) and character developments not only from episode to episode, or series to series, but also from actual program to program (TNG, DS9, VOY, etc) is outstanding. That is what I have always enjoyed about it and the fact its sci-fi is just a big bonus. The scene I linked is so very, very worf and Micheal Dorn really had what worf should be like to a 'T'. No messing, just fvcko, your neck is snapped

Besides I always argue with the other half that star trek is more realistic than Home & Away or Emmerdale. First of all a good chunk on the 'technologies' are theoretically possible and some have even been invented since ST first began in the 60s. It's not beyond the realms of probability that one day man might find himself in space ships amongst the stars forming relationships and alliances with other alien species.

What is 99.999999999999999999% improbably is the numerous explosions, shootings, marriages, divorces, wrecked relationships, robberies, double-crosses, blasts from the pasts, plane crashes or hospital visits that occur within such a small town or village in any given 3-month period.

Taking Home & Away as an example (it's usually on when I'm having my tea ) in the last year - and off the top of my head - the character Martha has:

* Been abducted by a cult
* Later fell in love with the leader of the cult when he was released from jail
* Been married
* Explosion at wedding
* Been divorced
* Got with new guy only to find out it's her ex-husbands best mate
* Meanwhile ex hubby is hospitalized and can't walk again.....except he now does!
* Finds out new man has family already and he won't leave them!
* Get involved with another guy who gets her into strip dancing
* He then gets her in trouble with the law on drug charges
* She the realizes she actually still loves her ex-hubby and wants to get back with him but he is moving on and getting married
* She tries to stop the wedding but bottles it
* She gets trapped in an underground mine which is when things happen with the cult boy
* She gets with the cult boy but it doesn't work out
* She gets with a new guy but then her ex-husbands new wife tries to frame Martha for her murder by killing herself.
* Martha and her ex-husband reveal the plot to avoid arrest and fall in love (again).
* They get engaged (again!).
* Now she has found out she is pregnant and doesn't know if it's the soon-to-be-husband-for-a-second-time or the previous lovers baby.
* Oh, she had an abortion at some point as well.
* LOADS of other stuff I have forgotten.

That is just ONE character in the last year or so and most characters in these shows have as 'eventful' lives. So tell me..........what is more realistic???
