Question

Where is safest to park if you're going to a gig at the Manchester Academy?
I need to be able to collect the car at about 11.30pm, limits the choices of NCPs I think
Advice appreciated,
Scoobyster

Scoobster.

If you have to park on the street, I would recommend right outside the Sandbar on Grosvenor Street. You can stay for a while and the punters in the pub look right out onto the street (and your mota with a bit of luck).

Is this anywhere close to Moss Side? If so there's a quiet carpark on gooch close which is quite safe.

Ohh stop it, most the gangsters round the moss have been shifted to other parts of manchester or shot. It's realy not that bad round there anymore a lot of regeneration has gone into hulme/mosside. It's now much worse round longsight way

Still don't go parking down there though.
Not too sure where the academy is, but in the city centre there are plenty of 24 hour ncp parks with cctv and maned guards just find one of those.

Scoobyster,

If you can get there b4 6ish I can get you secure parking on a University car park next to a 24hr security lodge.

Stu.

The Academy is next to the University Union on Oxford Road about a mile south of the city centre. Unless you can get in a secure university car park (for which you'll need to know someone - see post above) I would not leave a decent motor on the streets round there. It's not that bad, but it's not that good either. To my knowledge there are no manned NCP type car parks near the university so what I would do is park in town in an late opening NCP and get a taxi to the gig (it's only a mile or so so shouldn't cost a fortune).

Regards,

tiggers.

scoobyster,
the car park underneath G-Mex isn't that far away and is (I think) open late and guarded.
