Default Replacement leather watch straps (Tag Heuer)

If you want to get the Tag leather strap and deplyment clasp for this watch, the strap is £140 and the clasp £90. Thats £230. Absolutely ridiculous.

Tag Heuer Carrera Twin Time WV2115.BA0787 Watch

I've found this for £145.

WatchRetail.co.uk Quality Watch Straps

Can anyone do any better. What about a good quality non-branded strap and pin buckle. Anyone know a site where i can get one.

You could try these

Hirsch Watch Straps - from £12.99

I wouldn't though. Agreed the price of deployant and strap is stupid but that's part of the joy in owning a 'quality' watch.

Part of the joy ???
I dont mind paying for the watch as you are paying for the engineering, but £230 for a strap and clasp. Totally ridiculous.

£257 buys you an E36cam shaft kit. Fair do's as there is quite a bit of engineering in there.

My carrera strap is sat at home unused the leather doesnt seem to last very well- especially in the summer months..
Replaced it (and my breitling strap) with these:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...5042008008.jpg

Signed buckles on both - deployment straps arent my thing!
Can tell you where to get them from if you like... not too expensive.

As for the buckle, you can buy them seperately from any authorised dealer (they can order them) or try vintage and collectable heuer watches index.htm

Quality? It's a Tag with an ETA movement.

How can anyone justify that sort of price for a leather watch strap. They are taking the "****".

A genuine, and a lot thicker, strap for a Breitling is £75.

You could apply that to most of the Swiss watch industry

What an ignorant and ill-informed remark. Rolex*, Breitling, Omega, Panerai and IWC, amongst others, use similar low quality ebauches too.....

Could be worse... it could be $800 for a rubber strap:

What they are relying on is people wanting the "proper" brand name strap. Its quite a good argument, but at a huge cost.

There's a company in the midlands somewhere called Burton McCall who specialise in watches and straps - they've replaced my worn out Timberland watch straps twice in the last 6 years or so. I believe they may also supply companies like Swag, Beaverbrooks etc.

Thanks. Thats a really nice site, but its not exactly what i'm after. They are more military straps (but very nice).

Has anyone got any more recommendations for a replacement leather strap for a Tag Carrera.

Thats what happens when you pay way over the odds for a WATCH, you get ripped off at every turn, has it been "serviced" yet, that will be 250 quid as well!

Im happy with my new raymond weil chrono, it was down from 995 to 495 at tk maxx and its a nice watch ( i also have a tag monaco but it lives in my safe and only comes out for wedding etc!)

Buying an authentic strap can sometimes be like putting a solid gold rocker cover on a Focus. Equally pointless.

It really amazes me at the prices some of these companies get.

Depending on the price of the buckle, the leather content is pretty negligable - depending on what leather they are using.

I have a skin of Aligator hanging in my office, its only a tiddler however the skin is worth £350 odd and is approximately 5 square feet. £70 a square foot!

A decent calf skin you can buy anywhere from £2 per square foot upwards, but an expensive calf wouldnt cost much more than £6 per square foot.

The watch strap will use about half a square foot, chances are the strap is being made in Poland, Turkey, Spain, or France, and at their overhead rates probably cost less than £5.00 labour content.....................thats one expensive buckle.
