Default Electrical design software

I am looking for some (probably CAD based) electrical design software to deal with my three phase and single phase designs. It is for work so cost is not too much of an issue.

The desgins are not huge but at the mo I am just using AutoCAD 06 with pre drawn symbols to copy and paste into posistion then linking them with the appropiate wires, it does that job but its takes a fair while.

Any suggestions peeps?

Well thats what you get for using mickey mouse software

Seriously though, they won't sell it to you?? Surely they have a remit to support existing software for longer than 2 years?

I would certainly follow that up - It does not seem right that AutoDesk, or even a reseller can't furnish you with a 2006 Electrical license.

Can you give any more details about what it is you're drawing and how the drawings themselves will be used?

I work in the electronics (nb. not electrical) industry, we have a wide range of tools available for drawing schematics, which can then be turned into a net list and used directly as input to PCB layout software. Is that the sort of thing you're after?

The two main ones I know of are:

Welcome to Castline Systems - Electrical Design and Inspection Software

Amtech Power Software - Welcome to AMTECH Power Software

Neither are CAD based software.

Andy,

Its for simple stuff really, not requiring any PCB design just electrical schecmatics.

I desgin stuff like a control boxes for motor inverters, we buy the bare inverter and build everything around it such as isolater, MCB, contactor, 24v PSU, control buttons etc etc.

The AMTECH software look like what I need, cheapish and does the job
