It's a worldwide protest now. On the news last night there was protests/riots in Belgium, Italy,Spain, France and India.

If this is down to speculation, how long before Govt's say enough is enough and put a stop to it. If indeed they can?

The only protest that will have any effect is people not buying the damn stuff. Peaceful and effective.

For the wife and I, and millions like us, that means not going to work. Hardly a rational course of action to take is it.

It may mean losing a little today to gain something tomorrow.

People loosing their jobs you mean. I'd hardly call that "loosing a little".

Well at least they have not managed to get 42 days without charge under the Prevention of Terrorism Act yet. They found it was very useful when that 80 year old chap criticised jumping Jack at the conference though! He was lucky-they only held him for 4 hours or so, and he was a party member too!

I wonder if it will take a National Day Off work strike to actually get sufficient attention so that something is done. At present all the protests do not actually reduce the tax revenue the government gets, as people simply fill up later.

If people actually took an extra day off work then thats less miles covered, so less fuel tax received. The show we currently have in power are so arrogant it may take a few days like this to achieve something.

Eighty quid to fuel the Galaxy, its just got silly, its unfair, someone somewhere is getting a third extra on already high prices, where does all this cash, ok Gordon gets 17.5 % of it but even the government will have to pay extra for fuel so it negates it a bit.

I am starting to use my bike, trouble is, was going to use it tomorrow but I have my honking great laptop with me, had to go to Darlington last week so had to take it, 250 mile trip at 14p per mile, not going to do much work milage as it costs me money.

Speaking to a guy yesterday who owns a few filling stations, boy it was a hot topic amongst everyobne that walked in this fuel debate when we were chatting.

Now he could be talking b***ocks but he said that within six months fuel would be £1.30 for unleaded and £1.50 for diesel and he was adament that this would be the case.

God i hope he is wrong

How much do you think fuel is now then???

based on the average for diesel at the mo:

£1.30 pl = £5.85 per gallon

£1.31 pl = £5.89 per gallon

£1.32 pl = £5.94 per gallon

£1.33 pl = £5.98 per gallon

£1.34 pl = £6.03 per gallon

so it dosent need a big increase to hit £6

the next biggy to watch for is £1.56

thats £7.00 PER GALLON

we got worked over when the EU insisted we convert to litres back in 1994.

back then we were paying around £1 - £2 per GALLON
