Anyone live in 'the top ten places by the coast'?
The prog was on Ch4 or 5 yesterday. Anybody here lucky enough to live in any of those places?

I was born in Cleethorpes
(That makes me a genuine "Meggy").
Bet it's NOT on the list though

Ive just seen this (I think that I was too busy eating to press submit). Tynemouth is nice enough but its half pleasant and half desolate, wind swept and looking like it was a location for Get Carter..... Hardly one of the best places in the country to live. North is obviously better than South, of course.

Nothing wrong with Tynemouth.
It's a lot nicer than
S hitley Bay.

Cleethorpes has a nice beach.
It's a shame it backs onto a freezing cold estuary, rather than a nice clear warm sea

Agreed, St Mawes wouldnt make it into my top ten places in Cornwall thats for sure. Some far more beautiful places than that down there.

It wasn't just based on natural beauty, they also took into account schools, employment opportunities, affordability also playing a big part . It was the top ten places to LIVE as opposed to top ten places to holiday

Live near Llantwit ( which isnt that nice - the beach is OK, and some parts of it, but the other half is pretty scummy ) but in a nicer area.

Well the multi-storey in Gateshead was one of the locations for Get Carter so you aren't too many miles away, nothing wrong with Tynemouth IMO
Bamburgh is nice and Beadnell, my Mam lives there

Used to be better, but apparently, when they took the pier down to very short, in the war, the tides swept most of the nice sand down to Skeggy, leaving Cleethorpes with estuary mud
We actually lived in Humberston, (real posh place now, when I was a lad it was two lanes, three campsites and two farms).
The "beach" there is one of the most dangerous in the country. Once a wehole riding school was swept away, horses and all.......

Must admit I have not been to either since the 90s, but would never have put either in the top ten places to live.
I used to live in the black and white lighthouse in North Shields above the quay.
