Anyone live in 'the top ten places by the coast'?

The prog was on Ch4 or 5 yesterday. Anybody here lucky enough to live in any of those places?

PeteBrant 06 June 2008 11:22 AM

Whats the list?

dpb 06 June 2008 11:25 AM

I bet 'Gods waiting room' (worthing) made it to the list :lol1: :cuckoo:

alcazar 06 June 2008 04:13 PM

Ive just seen this (I think that I was too busy eating to press submit). Tynemouth is nice enough but its half pleasant and half desolate, wind swept and looking like it was a location for Get Carter..... Hardly one of the best places in the country to live. North is obviously better than South, of course.

MrJim 06 June 2008 06:30 PM

yes i live in lymington, about half a mile away from the quay which they filmed::)

mickywrx 06 June 2008 07:53 PM

Nothing wrong with Tynemouth. :nono:

It's a lot nicer than Shitley Bay. :thumb:

GC8 06 June 2008 08:05 PM

Its a top place, but not one of the top fives places to live: surely?

seab 06 June 2008 08:49 PM

Llantwit? give me a break lol.

richiewong 06 June 2008 08:53 PM

Bamburgh over Tynemouth any day of the week for a north east location.

Ringpeas 06 June 2008 10:41 PM

Cleethorpes has a nice beach.

It's a shame it backs onto a freezing cold estuary, rather than a nice clear warm sea :(

hux309 06 June 2008 10:44 PM

St mawes hahahaha please it only got that for all the toffs that live there.

Far better places down this way. :)

Agreed, St Mawes wouldnt make it into my top ten places in Cornwall thats for sure. Some far more beautiful places than that down there.

Deep Singh 07 June 2008 08:06 AM

It wasn't just based on natural beauty, they also took into account schools, employment opportunities, affordability also playing a big part . It was the top ten places to LIVE as opposed to top ten places to holiday

dpb 07 June 2008 08:38 AM

Are we sure its not 'Teignmouth' ;)

MikeCardiff 07 June 2008 08:41 AM

Live near Llantwit ( which isnt that nice - the beach is OK, and some parts of it, but the other half is pretty scummy ) but in a nicer area.

pauld37 07 June 2008 09:14 AM

Sandbanks is in Poole  :thumb:

jayallen 07 June 2008 09:20 AM

I live just outside Sandbanks house prices are insane down here.

Well the multi-storey in Gateshead was one of the locations for Get Carter so you aren't too many miles away, nothing wrong with Tynemouth IMO

Bamburgh is nice and Beadnell, my Mam lives there

Used to be better, but apparently, when they took the pier down to very short, in the war, the tides swept most of the nice sand down to Skeggy, leaving Cleethorpes with estuary mud:(

We actually lived in Humberston, (real posh place now, when I was a lad it was two lanes, three campsites and two farms).

The "beach" there is one of the most dangerous in the country. Once a wehole riding school was swept away, horses and all.......:(

Must admit I have not been to either since the 90s, but would never have put either in the top ten places to live.

I used to live in the black and white lighthouse in North Shields above the quay.
