I grew up in St Andrews my mum and dad still live there. It was a great place to grow up, spoilt a bit by Yank tourists and posh students.

No, but having been to both places, I presumed that there had been a mispronounciation.
First impressions count and although the beach and cliffs are nice, the state of housing going up the coast suggest that Tynemouth isn't such a nice place to live - unlike Teignmouth.

Alnwick up to Holy Island is a different story though and somewhere I'd be happy to move to.
