Paramotor / Microlight
I have always wanted to give a Paramotor or Microlight a go.
Ive only just started looking into it but are there any people here that fly one of the above?
I want to use it as a stepping stone to finaly getting my PPL fixed wing.
What kind of cost are involved in training for either??
I am stearing more to the microlight, but think the costs might be too high.
Any comments welcome.

yes i had a flex wing microlight called a pegasus xl 447cc rotax 2 stroke engine which is well outdated now.looks like a hand glider .dont fly anymore but a great experience.top speed of mine was a slow 50mph.best trip was flying to isle of man for the tt races from scotland.one of my mates flew from shetland isles to norway.then later shipped to oz and flew entire coastline.great thing about them is you can fly from any private land with owners permission and dont need proper airport runways which keeps costs low.plus you can dismantle and trailer them around.paragliding uses your legs as landing gear.easy to get hurt badly i.m.o. and many people do.

I've flown Paramotors for around 4/5 years for fun and competition at national level.
Training should be around £100-£150 a day and it's possible that you'll be in the air after five days of ground handling and theory, then another couple of days should see you confident enough to fly alone. If anyone suggests that they can get you up sooner I'd steer clear. Weather in this country means those seven days could be spaced over a good few months.
If I had to replace my kit I'd spend a minimum of £4,000 for the motor and wing but there's a lot of second hand bargains around where people realise it's not actually that easy.
Feel free to PM me with any questions or ask them here. I'll be training some people myself this summer if it ever arrives, and know most schools in the UK and a good few abroad.
