Default Sky TV

Have just noticed Sky don't charge for Sky+ anymore so am reviewing my packages. At the moment I have everything which is £45 a month.

So the packages are:

Variety Mix
Would miss Sky one for Roadwars

Music mix
Occasionally watch Kerrang/Scuzz and missus likes VH1 but neither of us would miss it.

News and Events
Sky news and Sports news both on freeview

Kids mix
Need that one

Knowledge mix
Occasional watch, however UK history is on freeview and lots of stuff on mainstream tv

Style/Culture
Nothing there

Skysports
I watch the footy at the pub, with the exception of some Champ League games. Could always go out and watch with a coke if i really missed it.

Movies
Never watch them, don't get the time.

Most of the time I prefer to surf net or play games.

So i could get away with Kids and Variety which is £17 per month, instead of £45 now

Anyone else done this and miss anything?

Tell me about - My Sky HD subscription is £55 a month.

But then I remember that I get to see January Jones in HD and everything makes sense again.

Right dropped to £16 per month, have everything I want. Plan is to follow Nacro's suggestion and buy a recordable PVR at some point.

Next stop mobile phone contract!

Sky can be a bit of a con, as an example i took the news package off my sky package and guess what, i lost Eurosport, at the races, motors tv, sky sports news, espn and a few other channels.

WTF as Eurosport, at the races, motors tv and ESPN got to do with a a news package, its a con as i had to put the news package back on to get Eurosport and men and motors which i watch quite a bit.

Men and motors is available on Sky without a subscription and isn't eurosport available on freeview?

Tell sky where to stick their subscription.

Phone them up and say you are wanting to cancel some of your subscriptions - have just done this with the Sky sports package which was £17 a month extra and am now getting it for £4 for three months.
Have done the same with ****anta was paying £10 a month now getting three months for £5 a month.
A couple of the boys I work with are onto Sky all the time trying to get deals, free free subscriptions etc and they phoned up and told them they wanted to cancel the lot because they were getting Freeview and they got free Sky plus systems.Going to try this next if you dont ask you dont get.

just did the same. we were paying about £22 a month i think for the family and variety package. i bought a sky+ box off an engineer (saved £50), fitted it myself (saved £60) and cancelled tiscali up to 2mb broadband.
i then added sky talk to our package (£0) and sky broadband up to 8mb (£5/month, plus £25 activiation fee)

net result = saved £110 on getting sky+ and (activation fee aside), we're £15/month better off i think

i still have the old pace digibox. which i am going to use for multi room freeview
