I use it but dont go daft, make sure you have a very good anti-virus installed. on my last pc i had a mother of all nasty viruses that literally wiped out everything on my hard drive.

I used to use it, with lots of anti-virus & anti-spyware software etc. There used to be a Google link to get the Pro version for free but I'm not sure if it's there now.
If you can secure your system and run regular scans after using it, you should be ok, but don't take it as a guarantee.

Used it in Dubai - no copyright issues there.

I use it and find it pretty safe. You soon to learn how to spot the good from the crap that comes up. I downloaded Limewire Pro from Limewire, installed and it works fine. Never had any issues with it myself.

The other thing you can do for music is alloffmp3.org - I think that's the right address - it's a Russian site that charges in dollars for MP3's. You can download entire albums for about 50p in good quality audio format and don't need to worry about the cack that you sometimes pick up on Limewire. Well worth a look and far cheaper than rip off iTunes.

I used it the other week, for my wifes party, downloaded a load of Eighties tracks, all of which we own several times over on Record, Tape and CD, its just easier to download it than set up several ancient bits of hi-fi, I am not paying for "Girls just Wanna have fun" by Cyndi Lauper as we have it on at least five separate albums, so I reckon Mrs Lauper has had her payment.
I dont know why though on limewire you do a search for say the Cyndi Lauper song and get
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Young Teen gets A** R**** by hugh Black Dick.
Now correct me if I am wrong but I dont think Cyndi Lauper ever did such a remix ?

Don't worry about virus's on a Mac. The only way any application, installer, codec, extension or helper can become active in OS X is if the administrator password is entered. It will ask for it when downloading it, when installing it and on the first run, depending on what it is. Make sure you run a 'standard' account for day-to-day use though. Admin accounts allow further installs and updates without authorisation for 300 seconds after the password is entered without further verification, standard accounts do not.
Limewire is OK, but it's easier these days to just use torrents. Quick, simple, free, illegal I use Azureus as my torrent client application and Mininova, PirateBay and a few others for torrents. Limewire is fun for snooping on people though. Last year I playfully searched for documents called 'password' and within 10 minutes I was accessing a Californian womans investment trust account email, Blockbuster DVD rental account (hope she liked the Van-Damme films ) and others. Apart from the crap film choices I knew not to tamper with anything else though. I'm clever enough to know that I'm not clever enough to hide my internet activity well enough I always meant to email the document to her but never got around to it. If the passwords are still active I might do it this weekend

Ah, the old "it's never happened to me, so it must be safe" theory, also known as Russian Roulette. I've used various sharing systems over the years, Kazaa, Gnutella, Napster, Limewire, Edonkey, Emule to name a few, and you do have to ensure that you take precautions, because it CAN happen to you.
It's a case of "You pay's your money, you takes your choice" or don't pay, in this case. If you use these systems you have to accept that there are risks, both in what you might download, and getting caught. It's up to the individual to decide to use them or not. And I'm NOT going to get dragged into an argument on the ethics, risks and benefits of "Sharing". You make your own minds up.

I used to use WinMX then moved over to LimeWire when it expired. To be honest I use uTorrent these days and search on BTJunkie. RSS feeds from RSSTV can be plugged straight in to uTorrent which is nice.
It's worth running peer guardian if you do use these apps, I also use anonymous proxy Proxyway.
I'm a bit belt and braces so my downloading of this sort is running on a Virtual Machine. If it breaks, it's about 10 seconds to bring a copy back up with all the s/w installed. A bit of clever tweaking with Synchplicity and you can send torrents to your machine at home from anywhere and it'll crack on and download them for you.
