Rewriting history: the Duke.
Apparently, ITV are to screen a new documentary which portrays the Duke of Edinburgh as an ecologist!
He is said to sound off about overpopulation and conservation.
I sincerely hope that they remember to ask him why he had FOUR children when the national average was 2.4, and how much he believed in conservation when he was shooting deer, grouse, pheasants etc etc.
What a complete apologist crock.
Producer looking for a knighthood?

What has game shooting got to do with NOT being a conservationist?
Pheasants, Deer, and every other game animal shot/hunted/fished in the UK are not endangered; while many of the plants and native species of animals that enjoy the habitat provided by managed game areas are.
Plus nothing tastes as good as a pheasant or bit of venison you've shot yourself.

controlling populations by hunting has a double benefit actually - firstly the land does not get over grazed and hence food is of good quality and in good supply - hence healthier and less stressed animals. Secondly the fees from hunting fund proper management and upkeep of the area, treatment of sick animals etc.
So in answer to your patronising "conserve animals by killing them" - the answer is yes

The guy is NOT a conservationist, he's hunted "game" abroad, too, and he's NOT going to be able to preach overpopulation when his own family is as large as it is.
One rule for them?

I just hope your a vegetarian.
Maybe everyone else is defending hunting because thats the main thrust of your dislike of him. Oh, and as for him having four kids - I'm not sure - but I'm pretty sure him and the misses haven't claimed Child Benefit. Which is more than most people with one kid can say.

Secondly, of course Queenie and Chookie haven't claimed any benefit. Why would they need to with their HUGE personal fortunes and pay off the civil list? Oh, and isn't that TOTALLY living off the country, so a kind of benefit available only to a very few
