Sounddock

4.5 out of 5

Excellent and only a half mark deducted due to the default 'switch on volume' being non adjustable and set just a bit too high for the room that I have it in....late at night you forget and have to make a dash to turn it down

Had it 2 years and it's spot on

Many on here moan about the cost but it does what it says on the tin and very well, easily fills a large room and if you are bothered about quality to the '****' degree then MP3/4 files shouldn't be your choice of format..

I have a Bose sound dock for my Ipod and love it, the sound is superb.

If I was buying again I would probably go for the Wave as you get the same quality sound plus DAB radio, CD, MP3 and Aux In so you can plug your Ipod in anyway.
Also I believe it is possible to plug it into the TV.

You can get both on trial from Bose and return them if they're no good.

I have a 12 year old Bose Lifestyle 5 system and it's great and still going strong. Some people complain about a lack of "character" to the sound, but it sounds good to me. I could probably replace it with a £50 ghetto blaster these days, though and get similar sound quality

I can see the point of the ipod dock if you have no other sound system in the room, but for my money if you have a decent system with an aux on the amp, a 2 quid audio cable from ipod to amp gives you waaay better sound.

Or pimp your XBox in to a media centre and stream you're entire 80Gb MP3 collection over Cat5e down to the amp that way

Sorry but if your looking at Bose then have a look at other products in the same price range, if you want an Ipod dock try the B&W Zeppelin it is so much better. as for the wave dont waste your money, Bose tell you they are good, I dont think i have heard any that are as yet.

B&W get a good name but a BOSE SoundDock is £200 and the Zeppelin is £400 so hardly in the same price range.

Cheers for the replies folks. Seems if you own a BOSE product you like it, will pop into my local store to try before I buy.

I have the Bose Sounddock (mains powered, not the new portable one) and I really love it. It has more than enough power/volume to fill my large bedroom and sounds loverly. Just the right about of bass (not too much and not to little), right about of treble (ditto) and it looks so elegant.

My only complaint with the sounddock is what 'Sipine' mentioned about the default start up volume being too loud for what I require.

Best Buys - The Gadget Show

Worth checking out the above, however, it's worth noting that the BOSE wasn't even reviewed by them
