Catching up to what? 2002?
Sorry but if that little animation on that page is any indication of what this phone's UI will be like then they must be dreaming if they think it could compete with Android or the iPhone.

I have to agree, im very tempted by the iphone just because of the smooth os it has, but the lack of other features put me off so im sitting it out atm until it gets much better.

Sorry, that Tube thing looks horrendous.
I'm a Mac/PSX fanboy (self-admitted!! ), but my phone is an N95.
I've looked at the Iphone, and still have yet to be convinced.
Iphone 2 is out sometime this year, and it will be an OS update, not any hardware (from what I've been reliably told, anyway)
The good news for us consumers is that the mobile industry is waking up to this new trend in interfaces. And with more companies bringing out such devices, this can only be good for us
Personally, I'm not overly bothered about the touch screen issue - I don't like to text using a "no-button" interface as I don't feel confident that the right buttons are being pressed. I've got a PDA, and have played with the iphone (opposite ends of the touch screen interface in terms of usability) - and both are rubbish.
It will be interesting from that article to see what actually is Nokia's flagship phone.

I've had my Viewty for couple of months now, not bad at all. I really don't have any problem with the touchscreen and its pretty faster than most other touch screen phones. Had iPhone for a while hated that thing!
