Default New phone for wife for calls taking pics

Hi all

My wife is looking at upgrading her mobile on Vodafone. She likes her current Sony Ericsson and all she wants to do is call, text and have the best quality camera. She doesnt use it for music, web or video calls.

Current options are the 770i and 850i that are free upgrades. Anyone got one of either of these and have any opinions, or even any idea of other makes that have at least a 3.2 megapixel camera, zoom and a good flash ?

I know it ain't a Sony Ericsson but the LG Viewty has a really good cam on it apparently. A couple of mates have one and they seem really good, no problems reported so far from them at all.

Cheers,

Tom

i work in an orange store(infact im at work now, slacking ) and our store phone is a k850i. it is uselss, it breaks, the touch screen breaks and it has software issues. two people i know of who have these phones both say the same. samsung g600 is good. the new w890 is very good. nice simple phone great for mp3's and has a 3.2 meg camera but does not have a flash. to be honest a decent enough phone like the 6500 has only a 2mp camera but the difference in quality in pictures on the phone is very hard to notice. you wil only notice when you print them out big. my advice is to go into store and try out the phones. i have no advice on the 770i as we don't sell it. good phones out at the moment are the g600, the lg viewty, the w890i and the nokia 6500 classic. hope this helps

Ive got a Samsung G800 (had it for about 8 weeks) it has a 5.0mega pixel cam on with Xenon flash. Very good phone, its a bit chunky but not big that it gets a on your nerves. Its basicly a digital camera with a phone attached rather thatn the other way round. My GF has the smaller G600 and she keeps nagging me swap but I'm keep this one much nicer looking phone even though it's bigger.

I have the K850i and the camera on it can be a bit hit and miss to be honest. I think its just a software glitch with it mis-timing the flash, so it should be fixed in future firmware upgrades. In natural light the pics are superb, but indoors or in the dark sometimes the flash will not fire, or sometimes it will over-expose the shot.
[edit] all the other phone functions are fine and I've never had any issues with it ; build quality is pretty solid and I havent broken it yet despite dropping it on building sites, etc.
