Question Suing a thieving scumbag

We were burgled a couple of months ago with the major loss being mine and my wife's cars. Now, the police have been excellent and have caught and charged two people over the theft.

If they are found guilty, do I have any legal recourse to recover my losses from these cvnts?

My employing company have said that they will try to recover damages as my car is a co. car and other work items were taken.

Your thoughts would be welcome...

Steve, Having had a few quid stolen myself from an 'investment company director' that earned him 7 years behind bars I'd say good luck if you do actually recover anything.

The pair of scum concerned in your case probably don't have a bean between them to take and never will. I know in my case I do have a legal right to take back what I'm owed should the w4nker come in to money on his release or should I say 'trip up' and reveal his stash. As it was a big case he is apparently going to be monitored but whether that's going to happen I've yet to see or believe it.

Good luck

Yes but I doubt it'll ever happen. They don't have to pay if they don't want to. I'm interested to see in my case what the powers deem as reasonable for the **** to live on before I have a right to it.

If you've had to make a claim from an insurance company, try passing the details on to them?

****, sounds like a significant sum. How do you keep yourself from stewing on it too much? I think I'd really struggle.

If an insurance company pays out, surely it's up to them to decide whether they want to pursue the crook for their loss?

If you have uninsured losses, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't sue the crook for those.

He was sentenced in 2005 so over time you have 2 choices, blank it out or 'lose it' big style. As it's now 2008 I chose the former and suffered greatly along the way and continue to do so knowing the b4astard has a stash somewhere.

He owes me a 7 figure sum to date and obviously year on year that grows but nothing I do will get it back so it continues to be a blank.

Had the law that's recently been introduced to allow confiscation of assets if the Police feel it reasonable then I'd have a large proportion of the money back. However, this wasn't to be in 2005 and a conviction was required before they could do anything in my case. So in over a 2 year case building period before he was charged he managed to hide, spend or whatever, the money. He even rang the fraud squad on occasions to let them know he'd withdrew money and that there was nothing they could do.

The law for me and the others he stole from was a complete túrd.

The insurance companies paid out but I am out of pocket by the excesses.
