Hi

Got stopped for producer this evening on my way home from work. Car wasn't showing up with insurance. I've got home, checked my insurance docs and just realised that the wrong registration is on there.

**07 LWN instead of **07 LWW.

Am I fooked?

Is it your fault or the insurance company's fault? Did you take the policy out online or over the phone?

You're unlikely to be prosecuted as it is a genuine error and if it is your insurance company's error you should still be covered.

You are supposed to check the schedule before you sign it to check your details are right so the ins co can issue the correct cert - technically .
In this case, common sense should prevail and all will be well

Thanks. Gonna head down to the station in a bit and produce. Not sure whether to mention or plead ignorant. Hmmm

Plead ignorant mate.

I'd use my common sense if it were me you were producing to.

You're hardly likely to have a near new motor and not be insured. I take it the car's details - model/make/colour etc are on the document?

Call your insurers and get a new certificate/schedule asap, then take that down to the station and if questioned, let them know the truth.

Yeah, it's all spot on. No colour though. Thanks again!

Insurers closed at 5. Will go down anyway.

They will issue the new certificate from the date and time it is changed, meaning it will look like he/she wasn't covered at the time of the stop.

Be honest about the whole thing.

It's a genuine honest mistake and easy enough to do; I would hope they see sense over it all.

God! Does he really need to be worried over this?

Sounds like a typo and you are all asking him to prostrate and act dumb? Does the car colur/model/address match? Surely this is not another excuse to milk the motorist for a tens of pounds in fines for a minor discrepancy?

Morning

Decided not to go to the station last night. Spoken to insurance company this morning and they have confirmed that I've been covered since start of policy regardless of reg. They're sending me a new policy and have told me to take both to the police station.

Will have to wait til it arrives before producing. Will update after that!

Thanks for the help!
