computeach etc etc
Presently looking for a new direction to go in, been off work for a while now and it seems that they put a few programmes on in between the adverts for computeach etc etc
Don't really know what direction to go in yet but would like any opinions with regards to these sorts of courses, worthwhile or not, recognised etc, is anybody doing one or done one in the past?
Need to do something and need to decide what I really want to do(easier said than done) so any help opinions on the above type courses would be appreciated.

Obvious con like skillstrain and all those other places IMO.
Ask yourself why they need to advertise.
Best you're gonna get out of these places is a 15K a year job as some lowly IT minion. If you're good then I could see you making something of it but a better plan would be to try and get a low level IT job with a local authority or similar who will train you and pay you if you have the aptitude. Then do the dirty on them after 6 months and get a better paid job is the route I would take.
Obviously this assumes you already have an interest in computers and know some stuff already over and above downloading ****.

Agree with Narco, absolute con!
I had a mate that was doing a "Website Management Course" and reckoned they had guaranteed him a job with wage of £500 per week at the end..... Paid £2000 for the pleasure. He was a mug for believing that, but people must fall for it.
I mean, c'mon, Website Management Course, wtf is that all about?

Computeach used to be "the" training company for IT (they originated local to me) Proof being they started in the 1960's when computers where bigger than cars, used valve tubes and were fed by punch cards
HOWEVER, I.T is nothing like what it was in the 60's,70's,80's or even 90's....the oppertunities just aren't there anymore. By doing these courses you won't "fall" into high paid jobs, because they don't exist.
And being honest, what you would learn is nothing much more than what you could get out of a good self-help book borrowed from thelocal library (as longs as its current and in widespread use - don't want to go learning Pascal ).

seems like the sort of responses I was expecting.
I know I am going to have to start in the lowest of low position somewhere in whatever I finaly decide to persue, the problem at the moment is, I can't get another job due to medical reasons, hence the idea of doing something from home between hospital visits etc etc.
Been told that my career (building) is pretty much finished and because of my resulting problems I can't fall back on my HGV license either, it will be two years this year and things are not getting any better so I need to do something.
Was thinking computers was something that I may be able to get a foot hold on from home and then persue further as and when possible.
I think its the brain finaly switching off or slowing down that let the computer teaching ads actualy seem like a good idea!!, you will probably see a post soon about how good picture loans are!!!!!!!!!

If you are serious about doing computers you would be better off doing a proper course in a colllege or university - something that is a bit more specialised than 'general IT' which is never going to pay much. Problem with IT is that most of the jobs can be filled by 16 year old school leavers on minimum wage now.
Avoid any of these places that guarantee you a job, or advertise on daytime TV as pretty much all are only interested in getting your fee off you.
