Default Holiday Recommendations

Looking for recommendations on somewhere to go this July, generally we do city breaks, but this time my wife would prefer some kind of beach holiday - i'd still prefer a city break.

So looking to combine both really. So nice and warm, with a beach and plenty non beach wandering around town etc. Oh and we have a 6month old baby, so will need to take her into consideration

Did think about Barcelona or Split, but dont know much about either.

Any other suggestions ?

Cheers

I'd echo Barcelone - just spent a long weekend there. wow - history, beaches, port. A real vibrant and friendly city.

Tel Aviv is another great choice - wonderful night life, beaches (including piped drinking water) and Jerusalem etc less than an hour away.

a lot of people take the **** out of me but i allways say the best holiday i have ever had was our 5 days on the fermanagh lakes/shanon river here in ireland. its only a few hours drive too the lakes but its another world when you see it from a rented cruiser.worth looking into if you want a break from the norm.

we hired off these guys

Another vote for Barcelona I have a friend who lives there and I've spent 2 weeks in the summer over there for the last 3 years. There's loads to do and see and the night life is very good, the best city in the world IMO

Menton

Some of the nicest beaches in the world, you can walk along the seafront into Italy, the food is nice, and the town is VERY interesting, plus Nice, Monaco, Antibes etc all a short hop on the train.

Barcelona is good. Also worth considering Lisbon which is similar and has beaches 20 mins by train.

Listen to the chipster

he is right
first place i thought of when you said you wanted a city and beach break

top tips

get a hotel out of the city
metro is sooo cheap and clean
ride all day for about a couple of quid

go out late for food
the barca people come alive just as the brits are off home, lol
have a good time

oh and see everything 'Guadi', (house, gardens, cathedral) totally fantastico

we like this place alot

The Riu beach or Palace Hotel in Furturventura is great and situated on the beach which is one of the nicest beaches in Europe IMO.

Another favorite place for me is Malta but it isent a beach place, around ST Julians and Silmea is nice. Ive been a few times and stay in the Raddison which is a really nice hotel. Both of these places are quiet and not really for big drinking holidays etc.
