Default Kenya Holiday

Hi
We have booked to have a holiday (and Safari ) in Kenya in June and are a bit concerned after all the recent fighting that was going on if it will be safe still to go .
I cannot find any info about the fighting /unrest re if it is still ongoing or if it s as the papers say is all sorted .
If you had booked to go to Kenya would you still be happy to go, or would you try and cancel and go somewhere else instead .
Thanks in advance .

Hi, There was a very good article in the Times a few weeks ago, it basically said that all the troubles were far away from the tourist areas and it advised people not to worry and go. The foreign office website is always worth looking at for up to date info.

Several of my Kenyan friends have said the troubles have subsided a little. I'd still go but would make sure you travel with reputable tour guides etc.

Hello mate, I was there for February and there isn`t any problem. The riots, the killings and the political unrest are all true but the way the media portrayed corpses on every corner and the whole country in flames is so blown out of all proportions. Its like saying don`t go to USA because there was a shooting in Miami, its never stopped anyone before and the situation in Kenya is no different.
We stay in north Mombasa and went to Masai Mara. The Mara was empty, like having the whole place to yourself!!
You could have a look at a few of these

Nationmedia.com | Sunday Nation

The Standard | Online Edition

To be on the safe side on the foreign Office site there is something called Locate, you enter all your details and in the event it all goes **** up they know where to find you.

If you want any info on what to do and see pm me and I`ll see what I can dig up for you.

Hope this helps and enjoy yourself, a fantastic country, with great people and great wildlife.

Thats a shame mate but each to his own. If I can offer any Kenya advice in future don`t hesitate to ask. I got married on the beach in Feb 04, went back for my first wedding anniversary and then again this year.
I can also recommend Vietnam Seahorse Resort Phan Thiet Vietnam - Discounted Rates Hotel Deals and Cambodia Victoria Hotels & Resorts in Cambodia | Angkor Hotel, Resort and Spa in Siem Reap Cambodia
Hope these help and have a good holiday
