Default Small claims court in France?

I need to pursue about £700 from an English person now living in Paris. Is there any easy way of doing this? I can't use the English small claims procedure unfortunately as I need to deliver it to a UK address.

No, there is no easy or cheap way to do this. I'm not even that sure it is possible for personal debts and it would cost you a lot more than the actual debt to get anything done.

Unfortunately FA chance of doing it unless you want to spend a fortune you'll probably never get back. Taking people to court in other countries is pretty much impossible from the UK, and rarely worth it unless huge sums are involved.

I do have the address of a UK property he owns, and the mail is redirected. Would that work or does it have to be signed for?

It may come down to if he is actually a UK resident or not, if he isnt then I dont think you can take him through small claims even if he owns property here. You would really need to speak to a solicitor to see what the situation is.

Do they return to the uk often?

you could always issue in this country that will give you 4 months in which to serve the proceedings. When he/she returns to the UK you would have to personally serve them with the documents and confirm to the court that you have done so by filing a certificate of service.

Otherwise, check with HM land registry who the registered owner of the property is by getting office copy entries. This will contain the name and address of the owner and is meant to be an address for the service of any documents relating to the property. If it's him/her then issue and serve at the porperty adress. Service will be "good" as it's a legal address for service, get judgement and secure it by putting a charging order on the house.

Jobs a good'un.

Forget about the debt, open a box of crickets through his letter box, get them from a pet shop for feeding tarantulas, they will breed and he will come back to a house buzzing with insects that make alot of noise at night!

It will cost more than 700 for a pest control team to sort out cos they will be very lucky if they get them all first time!

That will teach the ****!
