Unhappy dog barking advice

hi my mum has got a complaint regarding her dogs, they live in a large dog run.the neighbour says they bark constantly during the day when she is out. i have seen in the pet shop some device like a coller that emits a sound or could be a electric shock when they bark, has anyone here used one and does it work.cheers

My mate has one for there dog, works a treat. He barks really quiet now, more of a wimper. Cost about 70 quid I think.

Personally I think those collars are quite sadistic, I know barking dogs can be annoying, but fitting them with something that shocks them when they bark!?!?

they are really in-humane and are very painful (take it from me, it bloody hurts!!) theres a more humane one which emits a citrus blast and its a very strong smell for a dog, works just as efficiently as well. they are a lot cheaper too iirc.

Totally agree, you need a Citronella collar which is a noise activated collar which squirts a blast of citrus at the dog as it barks.

You can hire them from good pet shops but they are pretty cheap anyway

Glad you aint gonna get a shock emitting one

Talking of barking dogs, my new ex farm collie never barks unless a cat or a crow is in her garden. It's quite strange having a dog who very rarely barks.

My dog has now decided it is cool to bark all the time... there is a dog somewhere I think is left out all the time, you can only just hear it barking in the distance but if course super ears can hear it when shes in doors !!
