heard on the news today that the uk are planning a moon landing in the next few years.
Now i thought the government were wanting to stop high emmissions by over taxing everyone so why is it they're sending rockets up when they spew out tens of thousands of gallons of aviation fuel (which is more harmful than unleaded) and this is acceptable?
Are they wanting to put up speed cameras on the moon and parking meters before the multi millionaires decide to have their own rockets built so they can escape our great land

Even if a rocket produced CO2 it would account 0.000000000001% (that's an educated guess ) of the CO2 this country produces.
If you want to debate global warming then fine let's do it, but please don't use stuff like this as an excuse for bashing the whole arguement, and use conspriracy theories (moon landings and conspiracy theories, that can't be right ) to justify why we should do nothing (assuming that's what you meant).

More to the point is the cost. They were saying that as a minimum it would cost £25m per person just to get them into orbit.
Actually, thinking about it, that is a small price to pay to get rid of Brown. No body, no crime. Anyone for starting a collection?

I'd like to know what practical benefits all the bi££ions spent on space exploration has yielded so far. Apart from some pretty pictures of earth, and some very dull ones of distant planets that some bearded loon has generated on their computer

what i was trying to say was why are we taxpayers who are being urged to leave our cars at home expected to fork out for expensive space exploration (sp) - ok so it's not aviation fuel used (my mistake) but there will still be all the debris left floating in space.

We should never stop exploring and pushing the boundries, it's what we do, and incidentally we've learnt much about how this planet works through various space programmes.
Why are you trying to turn this into a political issue when it isn't, the overwelming majority of the UK space programme is funded privately.

What ever the band wagon you want to put it on we really aught to stop raping this planet of it's resources or there will be nothing left to resource.
If we don't learn this soon we'll be up **** creek without a paddle !
At the end of the day, we can all "do our bit" by using less of everything but our hands are pretty much tied..
It's not the general public that need to be building "things" that produce clean energy in the first place!!
Unless the government get with the program and start funding such schemes we may as well **** into the wind, for all the difference it's going to make!
